AFAIK it is because they are in a closed period - can do nothing that could influence their share price until 13 June when they announce their annual results.

Ok, so I have my first ever positive Telkom story to share.
I was on a 384 line when I heard about these supposed upgrades to 1mb/s on the 512 lines.
So last week Friday at about 15:00 I decided to take a gamble on it and called Telkom to upgrade my existing line to from 384 to 512. The lady at the call center was actually extremely helpful for once and actually knew about the planned upgrades. She indicated that they would process my request to upgrade to 512 and it would take 3-4 working days to complete but I could expect that my line would be increased to 1mb sometime in the future for free.
So I left it, wrote the down the reference number and expected to have to call again this week to follow up on why nothing has happened.
When I got home though I decided to take a chance and check my router, my line had already been upgraded to 1mb and was running perfectly.
Been using it for a week now without a single issue.

I agree they should upgrade 384 line (or at least make it free for those les fortunate, like in some counties overseas).
We also need to take into account that due to the WAC's arrival we should expect alot of "TELKOM TESTS"

I would think the only way that 384 lines will last once cell c has rolled out its network fully or vodacom or mtn offer prepaid data bundles similar to cell c is if telkom offer 384 for free or include it in the standard phone line cost ie R130 for landline and 384 adsl access.
so you are saying your 384kb line has been upgraded to 1mb? :O

oh, so you meant you upgraded to 512kbs and then it was upgraded to 1mbps

Bring on the 384k upgrade - even if it's to 512k - every little bit helps ;-)
So when Telkom says the upgrades are a "trial", does that mean the 512K to 1Mb speed increase is not permanent? That is the way I understand it.
If so then will Telkom in future charge more for that 1Mb line because at the moment the line increase is free (512k users still paying R326)? Or will they downgrade the users back to 512K if users refuse to pay extra on top of the R326 pm ?
