Telkom bumps up ADSL caps

rofl, for a sec i allmost wanted to believe it was an april fools joke, but then as reality sanked in and i remembered that we live in RSA where your pocket is the state's property...
 
Well this country ant getting any better is it....

i was thinking,, is there anyone out there that could tell us a close average on how much telkom has to pay for this international bandwidth,,we could then work it out on how much they over charging us.

cant anyone work a plan to get the amount they pay the company or group for this bandwidth?

maybe someone has a very high friend up in telkom expenses department...lol.

we say telkom is over charging us, but for all we know overseas might be the ones who are overcharging telkom, and here we are saying overseas is all peachie with prices, mean time they the ones that might be ripping ol south africa off..lol
 
What sucks for me is that they are only increasing caps for 2 and 3gig accounts. Those of us with 1gig accounts are getting screwed.
 
hahaha now there you go to all those "optemists" and journos who kept bleeting the "wait for seacom to land" tune, you now have Telscums answer to SEACOM: "Screw you SA". Nothing will change for us unless we get competition, which we still don't have. For those under the impression that we have competition, please let the rest us know when you have found an alternative fixed line broadband provider.

The only way forward is if the government actually rules that Neotel can use Telkom infrastructure or make the infrastructure government owned, then lease it off to both Telkom and Neotel. This way Government can control the needs of the country and we will all have better competition.
 
For the past few years we have been aligning our prices to be more competitive and in line with international standards, related costs as well as business and economic considerations.

The way I see it is that Guvment couldn't care less about the people let alone encouraging competition. It's like they give us a taste of the carrot just to keep us hopeful so we forget that we are actually getting screwed.

You forget - it was said that bandwidth price would decrease. Not connectivity.

Telkom IS dropping the price by as much as 66%. They also aren't increasing prices in line with inflation. It's not as major as we'd want it to be, but it's just the start.

If you're a Telkom subscriber then yeah. But what about everyone else? I would have preferred a line speed increase because that would apply to everyone.

I understand from a very reliable source that Cybersmart are working on an additional value added package too.. I'm certain the "competitors" will all come to the party with new packages...

So does that mean say, Webafrica, will up my cap? Cause thier bandwidth cost will remain unchanged and therefore they're geetting squeezed?
