We have a 148Mbps international line here at the University of Stellenbosch, which will be upgraded to 600Mbps by the end of the year
The fastest download I have had was at 7.2MBps. Sweet!
EDIT: Here is a screenshot of the campus download speed record when they tested it last year.
Move 384 to 512
Move 512 to 2mb
Move 4mb to 10mb
So what happens if you apply for the 10Mbps and your line only sync's properly at 1Mbps? Does that mean you can't apply for that package then?
Yes, I do all my downloading at varsity as well... Even torrents fly
Btw, you can get OpenSuse locally from http://mirror.ac.za, unless it is faster from Italy![]()
That wasn't me downloading OpenSuse. I think the guys testing the line actually went through some trouble to find a server fast enough to download something from at (our) full speed. That was the fastest they found.![]()
384 to 512 is seriously a waste of time, hoping Telkom actually care for a change. I'm hoping everything will be in Mbps soon and do away with kbps, but as always Telkom will disappoint![]()
Upgrade must be imminent...
Make the 512 adsl rental something like R100 a month... This means you will be able to have a 512 line with 3 gigs for say R200... And see adsl subscriptions grow...
You're forgetting the R131pm line rental...
The definition of imminent in this country differs from the dictionary definition![]()
