Yup, exactly why I switched as well. At the moment temporarily back on Afrihost - gotta say, though, Netflix is flying on AH lately too.

If things don't improve or I'm not satisfied with whatever excuse they come up with by month end, I will be canceling TI and going back to Afrihost Business.

I find the way Telkom have handled this whole thing to be quite disgusting.

How much would you be able to download with afrihost on a 10mb account?

I usually do about 250, peaking on 400gb on a bad month.

Have a look at their leaderboard. They don't throttle like other ISP's but at the moment they're shaping heavily on their Home Uncapped offerings due to capacity issues. Real Time services like browsing and streaming remain unshaped though.

I would suggest their business account. It is the most comprehensive uncapped package (completely unshaped) in SA by some margin.

Just to mention, it's not just uncapped. Capped accounts have the same problem. Been way to long for just excuses from TI.

European servers are fine, but US >800ms and < 0.5mbps. Please change your source of international bandwidth, Telkom. It doesn't take an idiot to realise that they aren't providing what they should be...

It's the opposite for me. I'm getting alright throughput on US servers but terrible throughput on EU servers.

It's very disconcerting that people are having similar yet different experiences at the same time.

I'm with ya there. Problem is the price difference :( Well, as far as 10mbps is concerned. At 4mbps they're competitive, but at 10mbps Telkom becomes way more economically viable.

And it's just at the time when I wanted to join TI for streaming. Goodness, seems like the time is not right.

Not really hey. Telkom's 10Mbps bundle excluding discount is about R1150 while Afrihost's Business bundle is about R1300. I'd say it is worth it considering the unshaped nature of the product.

Even without the bundled option, 10Mbps will set you back a little under R1400. R372 for fastest DSL and R999 for Business Uncapped (data only).

This is excluding line rental in the case of Afrihost.

Edit: If you're going to compare like for like... Afrihost's 10Mbps home uncapped bundle is R897.

Wasn't Telkom is talks with Naspers a few weeks ago? Maybe they reached some deal and decided to pull an Eskom on us and purposely switch us off.

I don't do bundles - I prefer not to have an ISP control my line in case I need to switch ISP's. But I'm comparing the R574 for TI's 10mbps to the R799 of AH's 10mbps (home uncapped). Big difference. Even bigger when you go AH Business at R999.

I think naspers complained about netflix / Hulu thus the lack of connectivity in 2014... I can see that dstv is losing out so they made a deal with the devil. Or the devil made a deal with them? I think the right answer is devil made a deal with another devil...

Cool, I also don't do bundles, but many do. Especially those looking for savings.

This must be the answer. There is a connection somewhere. Doesn't Telkom have the catchup dstv product included in their media bolt-on? Impossible that everybodies streaming is screwed. Complete BS.
