Gaming on EU servers seems to be an issue still tho, but really haven't tested much, But downloads seem ok. BF4 worked well last night again.

my downloads (torrent) peak in the region of 20kb/s if I'm lucky. this on a 4Mb connection. mostly nothing happens at all.
but when I use a test account from another ISP, (2Mb connection) then it flatlines at 200kb/s

Is there a reason why it wouldn't work on TI but does with other accounts?

Trying to cancel. 40 minutes on hold. Call centre performance is worse than my adsl performance.

Here's what my latency looks like in the morning:

I shall demonstrate later what happens to it...

And here we go:

Why is so jittery and so high? This morning it was working perfectly.

I look forward to an explanation and a solution, thank you.

Also trying to cancel, I think I have to go to the offices to do it. My petrol and time :( I will never recommend Telkom to anyone ever again, what a pathetic joke of an ISP can't even get their act together over 4 weeks. This is a mickey mouse ISP guys. Seriously, their support is so bad. Leave these people WTF? We live in a capitalist society, why are you voting for Telkom by paying them your money. So terrible. I'm cancelling at 2:30pm when the Telkom Office Queues die down.

Guessing you weren't caught up in the 2 month AfriHost/axxess debacle that started around Nov 2012 then or maybe have a selective memory. Just remember that there's usually a good reason for the grass being greener elsewhere.

I'm not making excuses for Telkom as feedback on yours and other problems has been non-existent but I suspect the rapid take up of TV streaming by SA users is the main contributor to the bandwidth problem (and, as a result, latency) and will migrate between ISPs as people change providers due to disappointment - TI is just the start. Say what you like about MWeb, they obviously saw this coming and adjusted their packages to reduce the number of heavy users on their books - that's your capitalist society in action :)

Mick - I have been an Mweb sub since big black box days, Left for Afrihost after the AUP changed. Afrihost was kinda bad when it came to streaming (2meg business uncapped, uncongested exchange). So I decided to see if any other ISPs could help me stream to twitch better.

I am not a fickle man, I just wont stand for retarded service and total disregard for the people who are giving you money. I would've stayed with Mweb if their AUP cap wasnt so low, I am by no means a power user (130gb-150gb a month) but MWEB seems to think so.

Maybe I will come back after this rubbish has subsided. but for now I will just go to the lesser of two evil's, Afrihost Business.

I think what you are saying could possibly be true. Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't Telkom want to provide a VOD service to their customers, and also Netflix if I'm not mistaken? But I guess this would be local traffic and won't have such an impact on their capacity. But still I wouldn't be surprised if its a fsck up like everything else they do....

Nail on the head :)

According to reports they were in talks in early Jan with Netflix (and DSTV I believe) iro voice, data & VOD convergence. Guess Telkoms rather envious of how well Naspers is doing with both MWeb & DSTV under their wing. This could well pose problems for current Netflix users.

Your explanation (although I get it, is not an excuse) doesnt explain why internet is bad all day round. If your case were the main contributor to the problems we have now then It would only show it's face after hours, at worst, after 14h00 when the kids are back from school. There is no "nail" that has one head here, I think we're dealing with a multi-headed serpent, Netflix, IPC price cuts, and free speed upgrades are all to blame here in one way or another. Maybe they should "deploy" these things in lockstep rather than all at once.

But hey what do I know, I am not a network engineer.

Point is, I and my clients here in the East Cape use TI mainly for business - no gaming or TV streaming and we are not experiencing problems, far as we're concerned all is rosy with TI.

However, in the words of the internet sage, YMMV - and obviously does :)

But hey what do I know, I am not a network engineer.
Nor am I, I'm just reading between the lines and I wouldn't be surprised to see Telkom/TI come up with a new product aimed at VOD in the near future.

I work from home and it's at it's worst during the day.

local exchange goes up by 10ms (from 30ms) during the day which is not much so it cant be congestion, you have your expirience I guess. But mine is kinda similar to most posters in this thread

I just came back from Telkom's store and cancelled, Another month of this **** though..
