I;m so tired of Telkom , i have a 10 meg uncapped line , i get local ping times of 300 ms + and international of 2000 ms +
download speeds of no more than 2.5 meg .
i have reported and been escalated to tier two level support so many times i cant even keep track , two days after every fault reported i get an sms saying my line has been restored . i have spent countless hours of my time on the phone to Telkom and it just gets me nowhere .
i believe a thread should be setup warning potential Telkom customers that the chances that they are bound for endless frustration is great , there must be some recourse or action the public can take ????
Currently i pay Telkom for my 10 meg uncapped line which is of no use to me , i also pay Afrihost , in order to maintain some sort of sanity for a 4 meg uncapped service which is fantastic , 150 ms international and 30 ms local pings and download speeds of 3.5 meg ... stream netflix and hulu at the same time without any buffering .
i am seriously at my wits end with Telkom , they are taking my money any giving me nothing in return ....

OMG...I reloaded a thread, I went to fill my car with petrol, came back and saw that it was still refreshing the damn thread...

So am i right in saying that the majority of people still having problems are Cape Town based, looks like ipc capacity there isnt enough. I think ranger said as much in an earlier post.

Back on Telkom and one last quick test before shutting this mess down...

Last Result:
Download Speed: 160 kbps (20 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 37 kbps (4.6 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 1635 ms

Seems like you have some serious congestion issues at your exchange. I suspect changing your DNS settings to 196.43.42.190 would not help at all.

There is something seriously wrong with TI tonight....

It's just lack of capacity which is now affecting local traffic as well due to changes made. I said I would stick it out for the week after which I'm headed for Afrihost Business. I bought 50 GB and streaming is a pleasure.

I will rather give more money to another ISP than sit another month with this crap.

On a side note I fired up my NNTP client and I am now downloading at full line speed ~ 413 kbps, anyone care to explain why NNTP is not affected?

Lucky you, I am stuck on 180kbps on a 4meg line.. - just waiting for my Telkom 12 month discount to run out and I am off from their network...or unless they improve in the meanwhile.

Couldn't play DayZ last night on TI, pings were mighty spikey 50-200+. Ended up playing with my WA account....
