Evening peeps...

I'd love some input from you guys, and to see if anyone else has the same problems. So I signed up for 2 Telkom LTE packages with hardware through Afrihost a couple months back, I was moving and also with the inevitable ADSL wipe out I figured I might as well get things done. Few issues, mainly:

  1. Cannot check my data balance, have to query with the Afrihost support team every time, or login to my router. Ok, fine.
  2. The data top up "lead time" has become 48 hours. This is a real big issue for me, especially because it's not specified anywhere upon signing up. I use this for work and sitting for 48 hours without data is a no go.

Apart from the initial frustrations of the 1 SIM card not being activated until 14 days in, I find this totally unreasonable. I've tried contacting them, not even to cancel completely, just to change over to the MTN LTE which appeared after I had signed up for the Telkom LTE unfortunately. Happy to keep the hardware I just need prompt (And normal?) functionality. The Afrihost support team has not been helpful at all and has replied with the generic "cancel your package and pay the cancellation fee of R999".

Am I crazy or is this ridiculous? I've even captured a video of myself signing up for the package, viewing the Ts & Cs (not that they loaded, got an "OOPS" screen, so I went and checked manually), and nowhere does it state you cannot check data balance or that it takes up to 48 hours to top up data. How is anyone supposed to work like this. I feel like checking your balance and instant data top ups should be a given, and specified if not available. Maybe I'm wrong.

Anyway, feedback much appreciated.

Hi

I can't help with the top up lead time. But, to check your balance send a blank sms to 180 from your modem interface

Thank you, that I was not informed of. Still seems messed up to me. Would be totally happy to do that if I signed up through Telkom, but I chose Afrihost for the convenience of a privately owned, FUNCTIONAL company. Feel like I'm being difficult but it is 2019 and all.

You can also view usage by going to onnet.telkom.co.za from the simcard.

Was told this yesterday as I was also chasing up to see how much data I had left. Look, the speeds, for me anyway, are decent, but from what I understand they don't have a great interface with telkom so not fully their fault
