Wonder what the World Wide Worx alarmists will say now

The only way that was alarmist is as a wake-up call for Telkom. Their statistics were not wrong... Their argument was not wrong. If Telkom sees some business from this as they will mostly do then it will prove what they said. It comes down to the fact that you have to be competitive on price if you want people's money.

I'm concerned with the quality of the service, but the prices really are good. I might trial it for a month or so if they don't have long term contracts. It is most definitely a step in the right direction though. Most definitely. If the quality is good then the 4mbps is just about what I budgeted for 2014.

Something tells me Telkom has way more capacity than we think. I think they have access/shares or whatever to all sea cables if I'm not mistaken (maybe not Seacom - which they can just buy capacity from in anycase). And their fiber footprint in SA is far bigger than anyone else. (sadly the last mile is our problem)

But like you said, let's trial it and see how it goes.

Does this exclude the line rental? Of R148 per month? The lady at the Telkom call centre does not know, also, the new pricing has not been loaded on thier systems.

I would say that it excludes the POTS line rental.

Telkom has also announced that it will remove the current daytime speed limitations on its Do Uncapped Offers.

I called them earlier this afternoon and I already posted that it includes the ADSL line speed rental, but not the telephone line rental of R148 and excess if you have a closer agreement as well.

As MickZA pointed out earlier (and I agree) they never really implemented those restrictions anyway. My DL's fly at any time of the day.

Wait for feedback from others before committing. You kind of get what you pay for and I very rarely have heard of 'good value', 'bargain' or 'Telkom' being used in a sentence since 1997.
