Yeah, also got some but they are easy to identify by the sender address.

This one came from Telkom itself.

What a joke Telkom has become. My escalation has now resulted in feedback, that engineers will only be able to start looking at the issue on 11th December (!!!!) - that is 3 WEEKS before someone actually attempts to figure out what is going on. In the interim I am burning through mobile data due to their incompetence.

Are there any known issues with telkoms mail servers? I am unable to mail anyone with a Telkom email. I tried various accounts hosted with various providers, even with gmail it bounces back. And yes, recipients addresses are valid ones.

@MickZA, thanx for the advice on my download speed when using Office365 / Onedrive... I could not set up a QOS with my Win Home Premium but i remembered seeing the QOS option on my router. Applied QOS on router to limit upload to ~80% of my max download speed, and now I can surf and upload without issues....

One a more serious note... i woke op with no internet for second consecutive morning (red light on router)... Wonder if it is weather related (rains for past 2 nights -yey!) or did all the attempted changes in settings by Telkom support the past 10 days to assist me not effect my service.... hope it is weather related...

Why does Telkom make it such a mission for a customer to request a Port Reset? The long waiting period when calling Telkom, before they answer, is frustrating. I have found on many occasions that a port reset is all that is required to get my ADSL up and running again.
Would it be difficult for Telkom to set up a Port Reset facility on their website that customers could use and once activated by a customer we could be certain that the port reset would be done promptly? Or better still, automatically, and preferably with a confirmation to the customer that the reset has been done.
This.

Do not open the mail... It's malware and it has malicious macros of the Dirdex virus variant.

This type virus uses a "valid" email address.

Search Dirdex/Cirdex for more info on this virus.

@TelkomZA: Please extend my thanks to the big bosses of Pierre, Morgan and Lincoln - the guys spend over 5 hours in this heat-wave to pull new cabling (which CoJ Water destroyed) and reconnect my VDSL line. "Internet peace" has returned to the MagicDude4Eva family home with a content wife being able to do her freelancing (and watching Netflix) and the kid finally be able to download 20GB of patches for Fallout 4. (Not to forget me - who now has stopped receiving hourly complaints about internet problems).

One upside to not having 10 days of internet: 3G truly sucks. I started reading books at night. Lastly, having a new cable seems to have improved my overall speed and latency with VOX - check this:

Just came here to ask the exact same thing.

Yeah, experiencing severe speed problems, in Pretoria North area. I'm on a 10Mbps uncapped line, but YouTube can't stream at anything higher than 240p, even a simple Google search takes about 5-10 seconds. I've only used about 40GB this month so I can't imagine it's FUP throttling.

Will post speed test results soon.

EDIT - Here are the speedtest results:

This is a Pretoria server, on a 10Mbps line, WTF

This is Johannesburg

And just for the heck of it, Vancouver

So this is what I pay for, this is what I get for a 10Mbps line subscription? I've had so many technicians here, so many port changes, so many faults reported, but still. This is worse than ever though, excluding the week I had absolutely no connection. And yeah, I wish I had the option to change ISPs, but they all run on Telkom copper. Was willing to pay more than R3000 p/m for WISP, but no line of sight.

Sorry for the rant, I'm just so fed up :crying:

Hi. I'm having a problem with my ADSL Internet where my connection will suddenly disconnect at random for no reason. I've recently moved to a new house. In my old house my Internet was working perfectly fine. So I know for a fact that my equipment, (MODEM/Router, ADSL filters, cables, etc.) are all working fine. Anyway, I moved to a new house. The new house had no telephone line, (the previous occupant had removed the phone line for some reason.) So I contacted Telkom to come and install a phone line in the new house. I had to wait more than a month for them to finally come and install the phone line at the new house. Once that was done I finally got my Internet up and running and everything was working fine for the first 5 days. Then suddenly today I started experiencing intermittent disconnections with my ADSL Internet. I went into my MODEM's settings and took a look at the line stats and it seems there is a lot of noise on my line. Here are my line stats:

"Line Attenuation": (Downstream = 43.0 db / Upstream = 23.6 db)
"Noise Margin": (Downstream = 5.8 db / Upstream = 12.6 db)

(*NOTE: Sometimes the Downstream Noise Margin drops to as low as 3.0 db)

To my knowledge the higher the number of the Noise Margin the better, and anything below 11.0 db for Noise Margin is considered bad. I would really appreciate it if you guys (Telkom) could look into this ASAP. I've sent you all my details via PM.

I'm on 4 mbps Telkom ADSL Internet. The connection speed is as follows:
Downstream = 4096 kbps / Upstream = 512 kbps

The MODEM I am using is a NETGEAR N300 Wireless ADSL2+ Modem Router (DGN2200). It is a MODEM that I purchased directly from Telkom.

Here is an article I found explaining noise margin:
http://www.speedguide.net/faq/what-is-considered-good-dsl-noise-margin-snr-355

As you can see, it seems there is a lot of noise on my line for some reason, and this is interfering with my ADSL Internet. Please let me know what I need to do to fix this ASAP.

For the love of all that is holy please do not tell me to phone Telkom's support line. The last time I phoned them they put me on hold for over 2 hours before I got through and the technician they sent never even showed up. I'd rather burn my own eyes out then go through that again.

I'm completely down. YouTube for me is down below 240p. I'm on a capped account, but this was due to Port reset which has virtually broken my line
