The complex I live in recently got Telkom infrastructure. I'm on a 2MB line with the following stats:
SNR Down 32.6 dB
SNR Up 25.5 dB
Line Attenuation Down 30.7 dB
Line Attenuation Up 16.6 dB
Path Mode Interleaved
Data Rate Down 2048 kbps
Data Rate Up 508 kbps
MAX Rate Down 17868 kbps
MAX Rate Up 1102 kbps
POWER Down 16.4 dbm
POWER Up 11.3 dbm


My neighbour has a VDSL 20Mbps line but when I called Telkom to upgrade they said my max line speed is 4Mbps :confused:
How do I get my line upgraded to > 4Mbps ?

Call Telkom and they will upgrade it for you
 
Is anyone else getting slower speeds than they should be? I'm on 4mbps ADSL but for the past week I've only been getting speeds of 2mbps and lower. Anyone else having this issue?

Yep me. 4mbps line, I was under 3mbps on the download.

i log a call > port gets reset. [Support #873938]

i log a call > port gets reset > get told to do a speed test. speed never changed back to 4Mb. [Support #875634]

Im just trying to get Telkom to activate my ADSL line. First ticket was closed with reason being no available ports. Didnt even notify me. Phoned again same day and Lady that helped me said > 200 ports open. Now I have to wait again. Do they not want my money?

Technician left the box open at the back of our house after installing landline weeks ago. Said he was coming back but never. Surely this ain't good for the equipment? And I'm still stuck here waiting for any working DSL line, almost 50 days after ordering.
This is what the box by our pole looks like.
Line has been dead since 27 Nov.
So frustrated.

Hi TelkomZA please would you get somebody to help me regarding taking out a new contract for an LTE-A Huawei E5186, I have "applied online", asked for a "call me", all over a month ago without reply. I have gone into 3 Telkom Stores and none have had stock of the router, I really would like to give you my money, please take my money :wtf: FYI I do live in a LTE-A area.
 
Telkom New Services call centre unresponsive.
Hold music stops after a few minutes and the line goes silent.

PM'd TelkomZA, no response so far.

Called the Telkom Direct store in my area 7 times, no answer.

Can't wait to get fibre and never deal with Telkom again.

When I spoke to Telkom engineers some weeks back, they said that the majority of time is spent on fixing problems related to theft and vandalism. The one guy teared up when he told how copper thieves pulled out 500m of newly laid fibre cabling which was supposed to be a Telkom pilot project for FTTH to some estates. Makes me mad.

I'm pretty sure I saw somewhere that he is on leave at the moment - and since he's pretty much the only one at Telkom that seems to do something, good luck with getting this done before the new year.

He is on leave, went already on the 8th December

I somehow think this isn't cable theft. A few days before the 27th of November some telephone poles blew over due to bad wind - line was still working. Then a few days after that, the poles were put back up - my line has since been dead and the equipment left as shown in the picture.

Fantastic news :rolleyes: thanks though for the update Ho3n3r. Maybe it's time to open a Twitter account and become a Twit, it seems nowadays its the best way to get customer service, thanks MagicDude4Eva, good tip.

I'm at my wits end with these Telkom bafoons. :mad: Even when their techs finally show up and work on your ADSL, phone and/or lines the moment they leave any problems you had just comes back again. I've decided the very moment the new year starts I'm cancelling my ADSL and phone line and getting myself wireless Internet. F%$# Telkom! :mad:
