Hi @TelkomZA,

So this is my daily ADSL email notification from 2 days ago:

Type Allocation Used Remaining
In-bundle 100.00GB 95.69GB (96%) 4.31GB (4%)
Pre-paid Top-Up 0.00GB -6.84GB (0%) 6.84GB (0%)
Subtotal 100.00GB 88.85GB (89%) 11.15GB (11%)
Post-Paid usage* 0.00GB 0.00GB (0%) 0.00GB (0%) *
Total 100.00GB 88.85GB (89%) 11.15GB (11%) *

That is perfect. This morning I got this email:

Type Allocation Used Remaining
In-bundle 100.00GB 100.00GB (100%) 0.00GB (0%)
Pre-paid Top-Up 0.00GB -1.46GB (0%) 1.46GB (0%)
Subtotal 100.00GB 98.54GB (99%) 1.46GB (1%)
Post-Paid usage* 100.00GB 0.00GB (0%) 100.00GB (100%) *
Total 200.00GB 98.54GB (49%) 101.46GB (51%) *

I noticed there's 100GB Post Paid Usage allocated @ R12/gb. I phoned telkom and even had the chat section but everyone just says they can only see the 50GB + 50GB and they don't know about the post paid usage. This was an option you can add online but I don't even see it anywhere anymore. I don't want to get billed R12/gb.

Can someone in CT run a ping to igubu.saix.net and tell me what they get?

I have noticed that we get instead of our 7-9ms to CT servers, we now get a solid 25ms. Some traffic is even routed to JHB and then back to CT and we get 40-50ms. Not a a serious problem, but something is obviously not setup correctly.
I have tried 4 ISP's. same result.

@i,got~issues, have you sent your Vox results to Voxy? TelkomZA just confirmed that he put my line back to 10MB, will do a few tests tonight and see.

So here i am again with another Telkom issue, which apparently does not exist (according to Telkom)

A client of mine has Telkom ADSL at home (onlinexxxx@telkomsa.net) and activated two email aliases (alias1@telkomsa.net and alias2@telkomsa.net). Both these aliases show active on the TI Management tool, however no email gets delivered to the aliases, the emails just get lost in space (maybe the aliens that refuse to speak to us out there are reading them)

Anyone have any clue about how I can go about fixing this issue?

PS the aliases worked fine for almost 3 years, the issue came up when the account was upgraded speed wise.

I think Telkom should give Charl an award for keeping so many customers happy.

Have anyone bonded lines for a residential property?

Looks like the current max speeds in my area is 4meg. So I am wondering if it is possible to bond 2 x 4meg lines. Also what will the cost be for the lines.

If needs be, I will start another thread if this is not the right place.

Charl shouldn't have to work this hard manually resetting us. I'm back on interleaved. Is it right that I ask him to put me back on fast path? Telkom should allow us to choose this ourselves, as for many of us , this is a downgrade

Please can someone explain if I am being dense:

If I use speedtest.net with a local server I get full speed (9.6Mpbs).

If I use an international server; UK, Australia, US, Japan I get around 2-4Mpbs.

I phoned Telkom customer services and was told that the further away the slower the download will be, so its not their problem.

I don't understand how the rate of a download is impacted so severely by distance?

There are many factors at play (and Telkom giving less priority to international traffic COULD be one of them, especially if you're using a shaped account).. but at the very least it should be pretty logical to you that the more hops/peering you have to pass, the greater the chance your service will be impacted somewhere along the line... ?
