Please Help.

I have been having intermittent adsl for more than a week.
I have logged 2 calls already they closed the 1st call saying there was a fault on my line and they fixed it.
But the problem still persisted.
The technician then told me that im on 4meg and that Im to far from the exchange thats why it not syncing.
Which is total crap since this line worked quite fine on 4meg since I upgraded to it 4months ago.

But still I got them to try 2 meg still did not work then 4 meg did not work.
They tell me know some guys is testing what not and that another technician has been assigned to this.

Please note
I already tested another router same problem
I dont use a telephone on the line so I dont use a splitter but I even tried putting a splitter on and it did not work.
I dont have any security gates or alarms that can be affecting this.

Is there any way to speed up the process????

2 weeks and my line is still dead , no feedback from any tech on when they will be out to my place to fix the line.

At this point i'm willing to pay a tech out of my pocket to just get it fixed , as i can't continue like this.

Have escalated and every portal to telkom.

So any Telkom Techs wanting to do a Private job and fix my line in the springs area?

Charl is on the ball again. I logged a fault about an hour ago, and without ne sending him a PM, he picked it up and informed me what the situation is. Now, if only all Telkom guys could be this proactive.

Good job Charl!!!

I just want to thank Charl and the rest of his team that assisted me with my problem. After a month my line is working again although I'm getting slower speeds now. Hopefully this will be sorted soon.

Thank you TelkomZA

ASSIA messing up my internet

Please set my line to fastpath as ASSIA has made mine Interleave and robbed me of 4Mbps download speed of my 10 and added an extra 30ms. Am I supposed to wait for a PM to provide my number?

Telkom seems to have killed my ADSL sync for reasons unknown, whilst trying to cancel our Telkom messaging service included in our Telkom package.

I have pm'd TelkomZA with details.

SORTED!

Spoke to Sarel, at Testing Centre.
He checked and quickly fixed the issue, and ADSl is back up!

Thankyou Very Much guys!

Down Stream	10239 kbps
Attenuation Down Stream	27
Attenuation Up Stream	17
SNR Margin Down Stream	12.6
SNR Margin Up Stream	13.2

Then 8-9 Mbps

Code:
Adsl Line Status SHOWTIME.L0

Down Stream 9215 kbps
Attenuation Down Stream 26

I never knew the word ASSIA but became very accustomed to it. Since Nov 2015 my line is also managed by ASSIA and every so often (+- weekly) ASSIA change me to INTERLEAVE and downgrade me from 4Mbs to 3Mbs, the rest of the time my line is purring along without re-syncs.

And then everytime I must contact Telkom to reset the sync speed, last week a call center assistant helped me in 2 mins flat and I could not help to ask him how he did it. He said the following, first he change my ADSL profile to one sync lower e.g. 2Mbs and then take it backup to 4Mbs without me having to switch the modem. Hallelujah, now I was armed to guide the next consultant to help me.

Today I phoned again, yeah, dear ASSIA visited me 1:15AM (ps. I use software called DSLSTATS - http://www.s446074245.websitehome.co.uk/ to monitor my line so I know exactly what time it happened). The call center assistant insisted I switch the modem off while they schedule a port re-create which should have happened in 15 minutes.

Well, 15 min later my line were still INTERLEAVE and 3Mbs, so I phoned again, this time another call center assistant tried to let me switch off the modem again. After explaining that it did not work and the previous week a sync profile downgrade / upgrade to 4Mbs worked she agreed and within 2 mins my line was back to normal.

I suggested, like the previous week she share the information with the rest of the call center, until Telkom either get rid of ASSIA / remove my line from it or give me the control I will have to phone regularly. Thanks to the call center I can now enjoy fast internet again. Keep up the good work and please share the knowledge in the call center and feedback to management that some customers lines don't agree with ASSIA and is causing the customer and the call center more work.

PS. Now how about an MSAN for my area ;-) Please.

Had the same problem, what are you syncing on?...check your ATT this is DSMS syncing your line at a lower speed due to high ATT and SNR. Try changing your modulation to ADSL_D.Gmt, if you are on ADSL2+. Then ask TelkomZA to lock your line at the speed its suppose to be, if your ATT is low enough :)

I have been trying to order residential ADSL since the 27th of Jan. To date I have placed an online order twice and used the "Call me back" feature but I have had zero success in getting Telkom to do business with me.

The first time I actually received an SMS stating that an agent will call me, I waited patiently but all that arrived was the call. When I resorted to HelloPeter I got a response to the complaint within 30 minutes with an email and reference that I should use. I mailed them with the details they required but guess what? No friggin answer yet again....

Why dear Telkom do you refuse to take my money? It is an exceptionally good thing for you that you have the monopoly on landlines otherwise I would have dumped your incompetent company so fast it would look like you were spinning.

I have had a stable 10Mbps service for two years without any problems until 8 Feb. Since then it is reset every evening by Telkom to sync at 6397 Kbps giving maximum download speed of 5Mbps. Phoning 10210 does not resolve the problem. But TelkomZA on MyBB and the Facebook guys have managed to reset it everyday to 10Mbps. I am assuming my problem is due to ASSIA.

I am unhappy at paying for 10Mbps and getting maximum download speed of of half that i.e. 5Mbps.

1. Is there some setting that can fix my sync rate at 10Mbps and stop Telkom from messing with it daily?
2. Is there a way of getting a refund for the downgrade in service since it is Telkom that is setting an artificial / premeditated limit on my speed?
3. If I downgrade my line and data to an 8 Mbps or 4Mbps (to try and match what the almighty Telkom seem to be offering me) is there a danger that Telkom will then set my sync speed correspondingly lower?

Hi TelkomZA

Could you help ?

See here:

19-02-2016 12:09 AM #1091

and here:

19-02-2016 12:02 AM #536

Problem started about 2 weeks ago after a bit of a rainstorm.

Fault Logged

Techie Came out and said we 1.9 km from Exchange and that he doesn't know how we had 10 Mbps as it was on 6 Mbps.. Fixed said he will monitor, call centre phoned and checked.

Said our line was unstable and that is why it has been dropped from 10 > 6 Mbps.. they tested and monitored eventually managing to get 7 Mbps stable according to them, which still falls under they're "Up to 10 Mbps" Service Agreement. Also they don't think we can get 10/20 Mbps or even 20 Mbps VDSL only option is Fibre maybe later if and when it rolls out.

:wtf:

10 Mbps Line was Installed and Running stable for a month up until the storm..

Not happy that I am paying for 10 Mbps and had 10 Mbps but since the Storm dropped to 9 Mbps.. then 8 Mbps then 7 Mbps then 6.. 5.. now back on 7 Mbps..

Please set my line to fastpath as ASSIA has made my 2Mbps download speed of my line 1536 and added an extra 30ms at least on local servers.
Attainable Down Rate says i can 3404 kbps, i tried at 3mb for a while and kept getting forced down to 2 so i downgraded my line back down to 2MB but now it's less than even that even if it ran fine for more than 2 years(at 2MB).

PM sent with affected Line number. Fault also logged

I hope you can help.
