I am very very confused we have a 1 meg line that was definatley upgraded to a 2 meg line with the free upgrades a year or so ago (the reason I know this is that I was with afrihost at the time & getting line speeds way above 1 meg) I then moved to mweb (don't shoot me) along with my line 7 since then never got speeds over 1 meg although I was still sure that I had a 2 meg line - I phoned telkom today to find out if I had possibly been upgraded to the 4 meg line & they told me I only have a 1 meg line - so why is it a 1 meg when it should at least be a 2 meg line? Can someone please help I would appreciate this :)

I have been trying to sort this out over Twitter, but 140 characters...sigh. I am currently on the 10mbps sync profile, but I only sync a 6mbps. That's fine. Telkom's ADSL checker says my area only supports up to 4mbps, no problem, out of date. Does not affect my line. I would now like to order a 10mbps Telkom Internet ISP uncapped account, but I need to enter my phone number for that. Of course it checks your DB and sees I can only sync up to 4mbps and thus I do not get the option to order the 10mbps account.

This is all under the assumption that a 4mbps ISP account will not saturate my 6mbps line, but a 10mbps ISP account will.

All that ISP signup webform does, is it prompts 10210 to phone you to get it set up. So don't worry too much about the limit, just phone 10210 and ask them for a 10mbps uncapped account.

I was on another forum this afternoon and found a link to the following:

https://www.google.com/fusiontables...cb0MPZGl1AnnItmeaqNrZmAT-d1LX3lMPmh4#map:id=3

TelkomZA, care to explain or provide more information on this. I know most details are available in the phone books but was not aware of the fact that its available like this, all nicely mapped out and all.

Did all these clients consent to their details being available like this?

Why, just because there is only 18K records? It might be a filtered report or something.
They don't list full names unless specified by the user. All records on that list have full names, including mine and only my initials are listed in the directory.

Awesome...

So I was looking at getting connected, BUT, when using Telkom ADSL checker i received...

ADSL Availability --------- Service Not Available
Maximum speed available in your area 4 Mbps

What exactly does this mean? No ports available or flat out no DSL for me :(

It means that site is a massive pile of fail. Call 10210 and ask them, rather.
