Problem solved !!! :D

Looks like Telkom finally put me on one of the new MSAN. My line attenuation dropped from 52 to 20 :) GREAT!!

Now the trouble is I'm on a 10Mb/s line but only syncing at 8125kb/s and my ISP says that's the limit. Surly the new MSAN's can support 10Mb/s sync as they are built for 40Mb/s???

I Pm'd TelkomSA...Please help!

Hi

Hopefully someone from TelkomZA can help.

I signed up for a 1 year contract last year (Nov) - a 4MB Business account that was supposed to be upgraded to 10MB

Initially the line was usable and the ADSL service ok - although it never got past 3.5Mbit

For the past 4months the service has been hopeless. Voice line is unusable and ADSL is 0.5 to 1.5 max.

Eventually on advice from Telkom support I agreed to downgrade the line to 2MB as I was paying for a 10MB connection but only getting 0.5 to 1.5 max and Telkom cannot fix my line problem.

Now I am getting this stupid throttling and I have hardly even used the line.
Surely business accounts are not supposed to be subject to AUP ???

the Usage tracking tool also does not work !!

Hi there telkom, I've just signed a new adsl line, the installation was flawless, however i have the following issues, and holding on for 45minutes on the 10120 number just isnt a good enough option for me, Ok so i never received the free modem with my installation, as the telkom simple deal comes with a free 3g data modem, I have a few question, how do i check my data usage and bundle, ive been told to register with my isp, that what i was holding on for, to do the registration, Please assist me here,

Hello there...

I recently switched back to my Telkom capped account, is anyone in Ballito KZN area also experiencing high latency ?
Mine has been 360 ms on Teamspeak the whole day so far...

Seems that Panorama (Cape Town), has had some issues for the past week or so. Faulty cables has caused some outages.

Dropped TelkomZA a PM re feedback on line fault.

hi TelkomZA
I am looking for the model number for the acer e1/v5 for R279. more specifically is it a 2nd or 3rd gen chip.
next how do i order. call centre says go to shop shop says no stock and leaves it at that. Not willing to trace one and have it delivered?

Is this acceptable?

thank you

I've sent a PM but will post here as well to get other users views, I contacted Telkom's call centre to understand why MWEB / Afrihost can provide the 10mb line cheaper than Telkom can (R389/R399 vs R425), the Telkom agent I spoke to then told me to go with MWEB rather? I was quite puzzled, I would think Telkom would at least try match their competitors, not willingly tell Telkom clients to move to their competitors?

A Telkom Store employee told me a while back that you could sign up for a 12 month contract with Telkom for your ADSL that would make it more competitive but the Telkom call centre agent didn't have a clue about it.

The other ISPs aren't supplying or maintaining the line merely billing it, there is obviously margin to be made but they now carry the risk of non-payment and providing call centre support.

Makes sense, would be interesting to actually see how much Telkom is losing, could be negligible versus the non payment & call centre support

Collect that from your nearest Telkom Direct store with reference asap - if I recall correctly there is a 3 months window to claim it.

Thanks for sending someone to fix my horrible speeds which in actual fact wasn't your fault. It was my neighbour's tree that damaged the line. Anyhow thanks once again.

Somebody, anybody, please!!
surely the infrastructure is well over due an upgrade.
Lonehill, particularly towards Main road.
cant sync above 400kb if i am lucky to sync at all. cant count the number of faults logged. one tech told me the quality of copper and the exchange is (bad) to put it in a more PG way. if so, surely this should be a higher priority to fix and stabilize an area rather than upgrading areas who are currently not having issues.

:confused::crying:

So Frustrated.

Ref# 125CWK140714, would like to plan ahead so if you could find out when i can expect the network/cables dept to repair the line it would help a lot

Can Charl or someone competent please help.

I'm seriously getting sick of this. I live in the middle of Bryanston ffs. People across the street have 40meg DSL, I can't get 2 meg. This problem has been getting progressively worse - from 7:30PM to 10:30PM this happens:

The whole time the above is happening, SNR remains above 10dB.

According to the website, neighbours will be able to get FTTH, but no not my house. I am literally in a uncoloured zone "land-locked" by FTTH enabled places.

Do you hate me or something? What have we ever done to you apart from pay all the bills you post us?

WTHF.
