Just wanted to say thanks again to Charl. Even though the problem at my exchange hasn't been fixed (yet), at least it's been acknowledged and they are going to try and sort it out ASAP.

Hi there. 4 months ago I decided to take a chance/change and start moving over from my 20 years faithful service provider to Telkom. Now 4 months later I am getting closer, but the system is not stable, thus could somebody help me in what I must do for the following problem.
a) I have an email account and have been able for 2 days to look at my emails, do an email
b) I am the main email account holder
c) my wife can do anything, do emails, write emails, attachments etc. i.e. The ADSL modem is correctly configured.
d) we pay for the split email box. i.e. an extra Rand 15 per month for the privilege to receive emails addressed separately.
e) I have an Outlook 2007 problem, that my password file is most likely corrupted, therefore I cannot get into my email box via outlook 2007, while my wife with her laptop and Outlook 2010 can.
f) I cannot get into my Telkom email server. But only, via the Telkom server/browser into my old service provider via their Webmail, were I can perform all actions, write an email, send an email transfer it to my computer if I re-configure outlook 2007

HERE IS MY PROBLEM.
I am getting through to the Telkom server and can call up the window " Mailbox activator" and can de-activate my and my wife's email account. (I dare don't do that) Conclusion, my account and password is valid.
BUT !!!
If I go into the Telkom browser server and login via the Telkom Webmail, I am getting a window from Telkom Messages window:

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Enter user name and enter password.

Whatever correct password and user name I have entered, whether re-started the computer or 10 times, the computer gives me a message " error, you may have the keyboard in Capital letters or wrong user name or password.

How can I solve my problem?
Best regards
Bert
P.S. I tried something new. I used my wife's laptop to get into my emails via Webmail.
Using the correct user name and password, I get an error message also and the window says: "the account moved to a remote server"

The laptop is on a WAN connection, while the computer is on the cable to the ADSL modem

Thanks goodness, MickZA helped me and at last we have sorted the problem out. We are now back to normal and can send and transmit and do everything without problems. Thanks

Hi!

ADSL as dead as can be this morning, in my neck of the woods in Paarl. Switching accounts makes no difference, since neither can even connect.

All was working fine last night, and nothing was therefore changed my side.

It must therefore be a physical line issue. Is this something you can assist with - or would it be best to contact 10210?

Hi TelkomZA

Please could you help,

I placed and an order to get the special 2mb line uncapped and home phone for R550 a month

all was going well , until the tech got to my house and told me that they will need to install a telephone pole as the one that was there has gone missing.
He said that the would push to have a date and get back to me with when the pole will be installed,

I have called and no one is able to give me a date as to when the pole will be installed.

Please could you fine out how long it is going to take to get the pole installed.

as well when I try to track my order number on the website it says the number is not found

Thank you for your help

You have to ask telkom to put you on a higher sync rate, but if your account is a 4meg and your line is a 10meg you are just wasting money.

Hi TelkomZA

For the last few 4-5 weeks I have been getting really high latency/pings to my exchange.

In the 11 months before that my latency was between 10-20 ms.

Now it is > 100 ms every weekday evening from 6pm till about 11pm and on weekends. Gaming is impossible.

I've done tests using afrihost, fnb connect and the guest telkom account - all ISP's have the same result.

I'm guessing it is a semi congested exchange? I've opened a request via 10210 (1003CRKxxxxxx) but i dont see the results of whatever may have been done.

Do I need to be moved to another DSLAM?

Please assist.

Thank you.

A bit of advice, don't quote the full fault number because now even if he removes it yours will stay forever. lol

 Not sure how quoting the fault number will attract random phone calls other than from Telkom personnel with access to the fault reporting system - exactly the people you want to hear from.

Still better to PM TelkomZA though.

Anyone know why my network speed dies off around 6-10pm. Is this cause of a congested exchange?

I can stream at 720 off youtube on my 4mb line any other time but somedays from 6pm ...nothing!

Hi
I has question.

Scenario: I have two phone lines at home. One for phone, one for fax.
Want to consolidate into one line (hardly ever receive faxes, and would rather use fax to email anyway).

Simple, cancel the fax line? Nope.
ADSL on the "voice" line maxes out at 2mbps
ADSL on the fax line does 10mbps - The fax line is a lot newer than the voice line obviously - so better copper quality etc.

Now, everyone has the voice line number.
SOOOO.
Can I ask that the two phone lines get their numbers swapped, prior to cancelling the lower-quality line? How much havoc is that going to cause?

Thanks :D
