1 hour and 2 minutes, finally got to speak to a living breathing human.

Jeez, who has time for that! A handsfree /cordless phone with speakerphone functionality would come in handy for when I call 10210 tomorrow :/

What time do they open the lines?

Quite! I had the phone handest on my desk and just kept on working till someone eventually answered.
Its hit and miss, sometimes you get through promptly, like when ordering a new service. I should have just cancelled and ordered a new service rather than trying to switch/swop.
I really tried to make this a seamless transition to my new place by notifying them mid last month, but Telkom dropped the ball.
Now I am just hoping they can make a plan and come and connect me before to long.

Hi TelkomZA
On Friday the 28/08/2015 I called the Telkom call centre requesting an upgrade of my adsl line from 4mb to 10mb, the upgrade was processed by (Faldila) at the call center, She also confirmed that my area does support 10mb.

By Tuesday the 01/09/2015 I called to ask on the progress of the call, and was told by Poppy of the call center that my area does not support 10mb, and therefore I cannot get it, I asked her not to close the call as I have a confirmation from Telkom networks department that my area does in fact support 10mb.

Today the 03/09/2015 I got a call from the call center (Helga) who told me I'm too far from the "exchange" to be able to get 10mb.
Line stats:
Attenuation --13.5db
Noise Margin--26.8db

All i get is excuses all the time from Telkom, seems like someone doesn’t actually want to do their jobs..
If you look at my line stats , you will be able to determine that im less than a kilometer away from the “exchange”

Any advice on how i should proceed?

My 10mbps line in Brackenfell is synching at 1000kbps down and 300kbps up... port reset did not help, anyone else having issues in the area? Guy at telkom says a data server is down and he can't log it as a call, I need to wait and see if it gets better! *flips table*

How is this possible for a 10mbps line to move at basically line speed? i thought there should be some overhead? Seems like to me someone at telkom "upgraded" my line. :)

Hi, not sure if you can help with Telkom Mobile issues as well.

I'm trying to port my dad's number from Vodacom to TM and get him an Internet Starter Pack.

We've tried practically all the stores in Durban and the surrounding areas and they are all out of stock for the 200MB x 12 months option for R99.

Do you know when more stock will be arriving or which store has stock? All the stores I've tried say they don't know when new stock will be in.

Thanks in advance.

Well, it's apparent TelkomZA doesn't frequent this thread any longer....
Dunno about that, I've had five interactions with Charl & the team via PM in the last ten days iro an intermittent fault which was finally resolved last week.

Not that Telkom was ever great, but a year ago a line problem could still get resolved or at least get attention within 3 days (for me at least).

Now with the retrenchments, they're really circling the toilet bowl. Worrying actually.

5 to 10 business days for a dead phone line if you're lucky

Yeah if you lucky and they don't blame your isp for a line issue. I'm not worried about the turnaround time I worry when they st art blaming other parties for their problems. I've been having a line that only syncs to 1.3mb for the past 4 days now and I don't really expect them to come out after only 4 days but it used to be only 3 days max but the thing is they blame mweb for my line not syncing at 4mb at least. A guy by the name Dave called me about 2 days ago just to tell me my line is testing fine and the problem is not with them.

I swear they can fix lines faster if they just do their testing properly and stop shifting the blame
