Yeah if you lucky and they don't blame your isp for a line issue. I'm not worried about the turnaround time I worry when they st art blaming other parties for their problems. I've been having a line that only syncs to 1.3mb for the past 4 days now and I don't really expect them to come out after only 4 days but it used to be only 3 days max but the thing is they blame mweb for my line not syncing at 4mb at least. A guy by the name Dave called me about 2 days ago just to tell me my line is testing fine and the problem is not with them.

I swear they can fix lines faster if they just do their testing properly and stop shifting the blame

Do you have a fault reference? I can check for you.

Telkom can't blame another isp for your line syncing at a lower speed than the profile. I find it very difficult to believe that they'd do that. Obviously your max sync rate is determined by your distance from the exchange and your copper line quality and these components of your service are 100% controlled by Telkom

Well that's what they tell me and they still say my line is testing just fine.

A tech came out to my premises today and told me he will look further into this matter tomorrow. I don't feel confident about the results cause it looks like there might be major issues with my exchange/msan

@TelkomZA

Please can you please assist with the transfer of my line to my ISP @AxxessDSL

This is the response I have received from them regarding the issue:

"Good day
Unfortunately the error still appears on your adsl line therefore you would need to contact your current ISP notifying them that you will be moving the adsl line over to Telkom. Once you have done this Telkom would then transfer the adsl line into the 'waiting pool' where there will be a suspension period on your adsl line. Once they have done this please do request us in resubmitting your adsl line over to Axxess."

Anyone here used Callblocker Plus, is it free to use or do you pay to subscribe to the service?

edit: Not free, monthly rental for the service is R34.85 VAT inclusive.

Having issues with our telephone line for the past two days, line is dead but ADSL works and syncs fine. If you call our number it "rings" but does not come through to the handset, tested a another handset and same thing happens. When you try calling then there is no dial tone.

Plugged the telephone line directly into the phone jack, get noise/interference (obviously) on the line. The phone will ring if you call it but don't get a dial tone when trying to call out. Tried another POTS filter but still the same. Should i try a brand new filter?

Logged a fault with Telkom, technician called my mom today to say there's nothing wrong with the line, it rings if you call it... Fault was closed.

Any suggestions?

A standard POTS phone line consists of a copper pair - that is, two copper wires (one usually insulated red, with the other green) to function properly. Indeed a telephone would require both of these wires to be in tact (pass a continuity test between your home and the exchange). DSL, on the other hand, can still sync on only one of the wires, albeit with much worse line stats. If you know what your line stats usually are, check your router and you should note that your line is in a degraded state. You should report the fault for sure, as the line is more than likely defective unless they are doing maintenance at the exchange.

The line seems to be syncing fine, checked the stats earlier and they seem good, can't remember what they were previously.

Think I'll call Telkom rather, they would be to confirm if there maintenance or not.

Hi Telkom

I've been receiving regular updates per mail of my cap usage on a 10mb line. The last update (2.9.2015) indicated I had 100gb soft cap total, but when I log in to the usage tracker it tells me I have 50gb of soft cap. I'm not sure if I am missing something here, why the reduction or the different reports?

Kind Regards

JC

Right on time: after 20:00, and gaming ping has gone through the roof. Time to call Mweb I think...

Honestly the telkom sites are annoying, all I want to know is exactly how much it will cost to switch my line from prepaid to adsl.... all I find are overpriced contracts or mobile-obsessed pages :/

If I know the initial cost I can at least think about doing it, paying about R1500 because no one is apparently capable of setting up their own damn routers just to get started like I have heard from a few corners though would mean a big fat FU though...

Depends on what you opt for but bear in mind that they'll probably want an up-front deposit to convert you to post-paid plus your first invoice will be for two months and include installation - could easily hit your FU figure.

I set up my own stuff so saved on installation costs.

I seriously do not see how someone needs to come out to your house to just fiddle with your router... it's not exactly rocket science to put a new ISP login in.

Anyway TelkomZA, dude.... since no telkom site seems to want to be helpful can you please just pm me a rough estimate or something? All I want to do is possibly change a pre-paid line to normal and then activate ADSL.... if I could activate it as is that would be better but I can see why it would be difficult. I just want to know about how much that would cost, the line did have ADSL activated on it last year.

TOC Escalations Can't even sort out a basic query

Telkom can't even sort out a simple call that I logged in April never mind provide value added services. Their escalations department then responds to me and say that the problem has been sorted out but i can clearly see that it hasn't and i send them proof and guess what? i don't hear from them again after sending numerous mails.
They have damaged their reputation so badly that they are going to find it difficult for people to trust them and sign u with them. We are doing a FTTH project in our area and because of the bad service from Telkom we won't even think of using them as a FTTH service provider. Thats another 600 homes that will be moving off of their ADSL and onto Fibre. Surely they must be worried!!! Maybe they don't care who knows.

We also had a prepaid line before... All we done was go into a Telkom Direct Store and fill in some paperwork for them to covert the line to postpaid. They put the order through for the ADSL as well, told us it will take couple days to be activated.

Due to some issues at our exchange the line wasn't activated but once it was done, I bought my own router and set everything up myself.

BTW, they have a new thing where you need to pay R700 within 7 days of the order being placed, this is credited to your account.
