not possible, they wont send out at Technician to install the line, unless i pay the deposit 1st. Which is strange, especially if there are issues getting the line installed, meaning i would have already paid the deposit

yeah i see your dillema, is there no way you can make a plan to just go to a telkom store and pay the deposit? i mean to take the chance and do a eft without the proper reference details will be risky as they will have no way to identify your payment on their billing systems. I would not take the chance, my honest suggestion is to make a plan and get to a telkom store, will be your safest bet.

@XL1000, contact their team on social media or PM here on MyBB. They are much more on the ball. They even look at queries at 1am to get the ball rolling... Crazy!!!

Upgrading from 2mbps to 10mbps

A few days ago I called to upgrade my line speed. I was told it would take 72 hours to upgrade (which surprised me as it should be a click of a button). I have been calling a few times to follow up and keep getting promises that it will be done etc. One telkom agent said that they first have to test the line to make sure it can support 10mbps. I have told all the agents that i dont mind if its not full 10mbps but just to activate the service. How long must I wait?

does anybody know, if im on month to month, and i only wanted to cancel the data portion of the package, what they would bill me? Do they bill you for this?

i took the 2MB uncapped package on a month to month package, but curious to know. Ill use the whole package, but interested to know if things dont go great with it, and decide to move to a capped package with somebody else

Thanks

Today I was shocked out of my skin, when I called into 10210 or whatever the number was.

Having waited almost 30 mins for somebody to answer, eventually somebody did. Explained I'm checking on an order, and the lady asked my Order number and ID number. She did some checks, and then it went quiet for like 10 mins, as if I was on hold.

Then a lady spoke and asked me what I needed, and if I'm reporting a fault. Having told her that somebody else was helping me, she said there was nobody there. I was absolutely disgusted by that episode, as the 1st lady I spoke to, just left without saying anything to me. Then I was transferred again, but the was call was dropped.

I know it's a long story, but I have never experienced anything like this before. I guess I'll have to get use to this, or move my line to another ISP to handle these type of things with Telkom.

So I filled in an online application for a new contract a week ago....still have not heard anything back. Do you guys think it will be quicker to go to a store? I already have an account with Telkom.

The online system doesn't work at the moment I think. I did an application 4 times, before I contacted them through Twitter to call me back, and do the application

Good day

I am normal guy just making it month to month by repairing, updating and upgrading computers from home. So i dont always have the cash to pay my account but when I do I try to pay what I can. Without internet I cant make any money. So in saying that I have had many disputes with telkom. Most of them I have won. Right now I have a dispute with telkom. I am being prorata charged for upgrading my line to 50gig capped 10meg line. R710 approx charges, done on 10 sep 2015. im beng charged around R1500 for 10 Sep to 10 October. also being charged around R1000 for my old line for september. I had an outstanding balance o around R1100 for august so with the september balance it would be R2100. So after upgrading I shouldnt be Charged the R1000 for September on the R700. The said I was refunded but even with a refund I still owe the R1000 plus R1400. I did make a payment of R940 for the august balance but after spending 2 hours on the line explaining this Im still being told im wrong and I dont understand how?

I know when you open a dispute with telkom the can Protect the amount thats being disputed so it comes off your amount owing, which helps with your line being reconnected but the consultant refuses to do this to help. I feel like my intelligence is being questioned.

I know i dont always pay every month but does it mean that Im not trying to make a living and should i be judged for that?
I dont even understand how im being prorata charged for 30 days 1400 and still being billed in october 700 for november. i was told prorata from 10sep to 10 october? Im on month to month with telkom, why must I be charged in advance?what if i cancel?
is there anyone that can help with this?

the pro rata seems right, if you upgrading your line and it was done on the 10th, which you will receive a set amount of that 50GB's from 10th Sept, as the account is NOT starting from the 1st of Sept(thus being a full month)

the rest im not sure about, as your account seems a bit all over the place, esp when it comes to outstanding amounts owing. If you dont pay the amount you need to pay, those amounts normally carry interest with them. So everytime you miss a payment, or short pay, interest gets added onto that amount.

normally outstanding balances of previous months, get carried over into the new month as well

edit: actually your billing cycle seems to be running from the 10th to the 10th, so in theory, that shouldnt be a pro rata period, as pro rata normally runs within a calander month ie 30 days of a normal calander month(i do speak under correction)

Hi @TelkomZA

I'm moving my line to my ISP so it will be easier to find a fault if it occurs instead of playing tennis between Telkom and my ISP. I asked @TelkomZA on twitter why they haven't released my line yet, and I keep getting the same response.

Hi, we're awaiting further updates on this issue.
Every day since last Monday. What can I do to get this done? I can't understand why it takes this long just to release a line so I can make the move and upgrade my line.
