Hi guys

All I want to know, would a 2mb uncapped line with Telkom be sufficient for only streaming? I can only get a 2mb line in my area according to the website

It should be okay for 1 stream of Netflix. And infinitely cheaper than wireless products.

TelkomZA,

I upgraded my line to a 4meg line 2 days ago. The Call Center agent told me that my line will be synced to 4meg within 24 hours...
Mortal Kombat X is 15 hours away from a complete installation and it is but only 50% installed... I started the install yesterday at 9AM.

Location of line points in my house/ Future plans to upgrade the ADSL connection

Dear Sir/madam

I have recently moved to Kleinbosch, Parow, 7500 and to my total disappointment, the ADSL speed was said to be 2 MBPS with no plans to upgrade.

I did however install a basic landline (Tel 021 558 5007). Unfortunately, my request was not adhered to. I requested 3 points (of which there were 2 points already present, but one of them(in the living area, had to be moved)). After the connection, the one in the bedroom is not working, the one in the living room was not moved and the new one was not installed.

Secondly, I tried Neotel to connect my home via a wireless connection, but the signal was too week. I eventually was able to upgrade to an ADSL line with Afrihost, but as I do not have enough points, there are wires everywhere.

Then my last query. Kleinbosch is quite an upmarket area. Plattekloof, across the road is getting fiber, Welgelegen, next to us has a speed of 5MBS and we only have 2 MBS???

BTW, phoning the Telkom helpline is unfortunately a waste of time.

I trust that you can help me with answers as well as the supply of more points in the house.

Regards

I am moving out at the end of August and I need to know what to do please. I currently have adsl at home, in my rented flat. Please advise how I would go about finding out if the new house has an adsl connection (landlord doesn't know) and how would I go about transferring my line? Is it better to cancel and reapply??

On the telkom website you can use move house service and if the new house has a land line number you can use it on the adsl checker on the telkom website http://www2.telkom.co.za/checkadsl/check.htm

My gaming ping seems to shoot up at night. It's perfect all day then night time comes and it all goes downhill.

Anyone else experience the same issue>?

@pooky... Mee too... Telkom gave me a new modem/router today, said that its probably the router.. Well its not... I had to hand in my D-Link and they gave me a Aztech... My ookla speed tests over wifi to my mobile devices normally ran up to 3.5mbps... With this damm Aztech the speeds are stuck at 0.20 to 0.40mbps... What in the world? The pc thats connected via cable runs 2.9mbps...

If you're there, @TelkomZA, how much notice do I need to give to cancel an analogue landline? House sold, transfer happening 2 October.

edit: Fault resolved: how do I cancel a fault that was logged. The fault is no longer an issue, well other than a crackly line...

Good Evening TelkomZA

I sent you a PM a few minutes ago. Our Exchange upgraded to 40Mbps in August. I asked Afrihost to upgrade my line from 4 to 10Mbps on 26 Aug 15. After correspondence with Afrihost the last few days, it seems Telkom has some issues with Line Upgrade's due to some new Program they are using.

Will you be able to assist in any way.

Thank you in Advance

Around the middle of August I phoned Telkom to ask that my services be moved from current address to the new one as of 1 Sept.

1 Sept comes along and nothing.

I phone telkom today and they say no order or any records of this, I need to go through the process again.

On hold

Hi TelkomZA,

Our 4 BRI's and ADSL line in Midrand have been down since last friday. All Telkom can say is that they have a large backlog of faults to attend to.
This is now the sixth day and as a company who does most of their work via ISDN to ISDN dial up, we are failing SLA's at the moment.

It would be appreciated if we could at least get an ETA on a fix.

Refs
Telkom ref: 11CRK280815 – ADSL
Telkom ref: 1CRI280815 - ISDN

We were then given these escalations references on monday
735899 - ISDN
735900 - ADSL

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Regards

Andre

Telkom Do Gaming add on...why did you remove the add on with no warning or communication? I activated the add on on the 22nd Aug and since the 30th Aug, data has been coming off my monthly cap. I installed my adsl purely for gaming and little to no time is spent on the internet. I would like my data / add on back please... #bringbacktheoption
