@TelkomZA, I sent you a PM, please can you change my ADSL profile to ADSL2+ and increase my sync rate to 10Mbps. I am on the do Premium Plus package and currently syncing at 5Mbps.

Forum member Cavedog has looked at my router stats and advised that it seems like my profile is the issue, since I am on G.dmt mode.

Thanks a lot for caring :) I did drop you a PM regarding my issue but I'll state it here too as I have a little more info.

Past Sitatuon:
A few months ago you helped me get onto the 20/1 multimode ADSL2+ profile when telkom didnt acknowledge its existance, you then helped me again when a telkom service desk person did something that caused me to not be able to connect to the internet (It was with regards to sync speeds). VDSL sync was never obtainable, not sure if its a faulty pace but it doesn't bother me.

Current Situation:
I had wanted to move my line to afrihost but I asked them to cancel the migration straight away, I think the order is still open on telkom's side. I noticed shortly after that my line is syncing at the 15mbit / 1.2mbit mode not the 20mbit/1mbit . I gave telkom a call and they could not access my line profile the computer for them just refused to, this has happened in the past where /checkadsl telkom site and calling them yielded unknown results. My tel # is in the pm

Very very weird.

@TelkomZA, thanks for the feedback, dropped you a reply on the PM you sent. Line syncs at 10Mbit, but I cannot connect to the internet. I tried guest account and another prepaid account.

I tried both my Netgear and Dlink router.

@TelkomZA, I think I missed your call, but I restarted my router and now I am able to connect to the internet while syncing at 10Mbit. Whatever you did, you sir are brilliant when it comes to service :)

In October Telkom promo people came to my house and I signed a 20mbps + 50GB cap at R767.00 all inclusive, I think. Anyway, the following day I decided to cancel and told the promoter I didn't want it. He was happy to not submit and life went on. To make sure, I got hold of TelkomZA here and Twitter to see it wasn't submitted.

Everything was great for 2 months - and this morning I get an SMS saying 'Welcome to Telkom Internet. Your account details are as follows ...' - so I'm guessing it went through, but no one can tell me?

Just wondering what I have - was it what I asked them not to cancel?
What line speed?
What data?
What price?
Do I get a free router?

@TelkomZA, when you have a chance can you drop me a PM and let me know what the connecting to the internet issue was after you changed my adsl profile and sync to 10Mbps, just want to know for future reference.

Line is operating fine at the moment on both Netgear and Dlink.

612ms on speedtest, can't even finish the test because it just cuts out at 0.02kb/s. Of course, when I swap to Afrihost my internet is perfect. Is it possible for Telkom to deliver even a month of stable service? I just had a technician here two months ago.

I have ordered a line on behalf of a client, and after two days Telkom SMSed my client to say the line was ready to continue with self install. So I got on my bike and zipped over there with a brand new router only to find it won't sync. So Telkom said it was the router and that my client must buy a router from them. So I went back there with my personal router to test and guess what, it won't sync. So Telkom said we were doing something wrong, sent out a technician who "tested" the line and said there was nothing wrong with the line and all was ready for Self Install. So we plugged in the router and guess what... yep... no sync.

Now Telkom are telling him the problem is with his ISP, me. How do I fight this when I sit for 1:30 minutes and more waiting to speak to an agent who can never help anyway or I get cut off?

My client has taken the router next door and it works 100%, but at his house, nada?

I am starting to believe that Telkom are doing this to discredit my business and get my client to switch to them.

I have had in the past were Telkom has even ordered additional services on my clients line with out authorisation, and only after my clients have requested a signature or recording of phone call when products were ordered were the products cancelled, not even credited. The additional services impeded my attempts to migrate the line to my wholesale.

I have now been on hold with your call centre (10210) for over an hour and no answer. It is absolutely terrible that your centre has so few staff that they can't attend to problems quickly, but when you call and say you are a new client, the call is answered with in minutes.

Added to that, I did a test recently... called 10210 from my mobile, then after 20 minutes called from my landline. Guess which call got answered first... not the one from mobile... explain that please?
 
I am really hoping that TelkomZA is able to help me and just hasn't yet due do festive season / backlog

EDIT: Thanks guys a few minutes after this post and I see my sync rates adjusted, you guys rock.

Since then my line has been down :(

I've logged multiple line faults etc....

I logged a complaint on Hellopeter and got a decent responce, however this has been more than a week ago and my line is still down.

My downlink is fine however my uplink is the issue, lot of crc errors , and can't authenticate...

Here is the current fault ref:341ctk031214

adsl is broken for a week now, no progress what so ever, everyday I call, and everyday I hear "i have escalated the fault" WTF???

Now, the reference is from monday, as the lady who was helping me on thursday didnt even bother to create a fault report, but since you record each call, you can easily check that I'm telling the truth
 
My line sync has suddenly dropped from 10meg to 8meg and no matter what I do (port reset, router power cycle) I just can't get above 8 anymore? Somebody mentioned something that Telkom recently implemented a new auto grading system whereby it sets your profile automatically based on your line stats... is there anyway to override this and put me back on my 10meg sync ?

i asked telkomZA for help to get telkom to fix my line
as got a bad snr drop,
as telkom dont want to comeout and cheack it

but all they say is just lower it,even if i lower it,its still worce than what i was...
so its better,but not fixed

also back at 8mb,used to be 10 it sucks...

ether way 8mb or 10mb,theres still a 3+db drop

getting bit fed up,and i know where the problem is and why,but they want the easy way out,
 
Hey Telkom. I'm back home at the coast for the next three weeks. There is already a Telkom line here and it is adsl ready. Would it be possible to get adsl (line+data) for just the three weeks and be billed pro rata.

Also if I have adsl back home in jhb can I use the same account details for the data portion on an another line. So in that way I can just get the adsl line here on the coast.
