Most people either love it or hate it while I have a sort of middle ground feeling about the city. I hate it when I'm stuck in Bangers for more than three days, but then find I miss the place when I'm away from the city for more than a month and the cycle repeats.
No street food scene in SA, especially not Caoe Town, where everything gets regulated out of existence, and the big chains bully the guys with food stands because if nuances in their names and menu items. West is greedy.
They can, but in my experience, they're not there to fool you into screwing them. People travel there for that.

I just got back from Thailand about 2 weeks ago. Andaman water park was epic. Loved it. A taxi (car or minibus) was 700 bhat from Kamala to Phuket old Town but Kamala is further than Patong. I'm sure you could get there for 500 bhat from Patong and then 500 bhat back. You can negotiate a bit but I found taxi prices to be pretty consistent between them. Fuel is not cheap for them. If I recall correctly it was about 34 bhat a litre. So taxis aren't as reasonable as it was when I was there in 2018. There is a nice go kart track next to Tiger Kingdom if you like that kind of stuff. I went to Fantasea and personally found it over priced and hardly worth the visit. The dolphin show was great though. Enjoyed that. Food in cheap in the restaurants around Patong and its good as well. Service all round was great.
Tours and activities will eat into your budget pretty quickly, but you will be fine. That's pretty much my monthly budget for my son and me (excluding accommodation and school fees) and we survive quite comfortably with the occasional luxury thrown in.
Yes should be more than enough if you don’t go on a big shopping spree.
If you eat at Thai restaurants and don't go binge drinking every night then 3000 Baht a day should be enough.

As I have mentioned before we will be staying in Ao Nang as well and the only thing I want to go see that involves a trip is Railay Beach and I believe transport for that is 100 Baht one way which is nothing at all. Was considering Phi Phi but damn it looks extremely boring.
The idea is to kind of operate like a local. Honestly, I do not get the idea behind going to a foreign country to go on shopping sprees. It just seems like a waste of time and money. Luckily my wife feels the same. When we were in Bali we avoided this and doing touristy activities which made the experience must better. We did one day trip to a neighboring island but that was absolutely fantastic and I will do it again.
