Headed down to JJ to check out the pets section today to see if I could find something interesting for the lake. Found loads of meerkats and raccoons for sale at one stall. I've always wanted a raccoon for a pet so was extremely tempted to buy one I would probably have gotten one if I had the 20K Baht on me at the time.

Also found some baby alligators which would help stop people fishing in my lake while I'm away. Wonder what my neighbors would think if I put a few in there

Tried to get a skeef pic by pretending to make a call on my phone, but the seller got all abrasive. They are super strict about the no pictures policy in that section of the market.

I stay away from the animals side of jatujak because i cant stand seeing animals in cages etc.
I know its like putting your head in the ground but i cant stand the fact seeing that.

Why dont you just go to Benjakitti and help yourself to a water monitor?
I have seen some BIG things in that lake, they the size of a medium aligator.

I know you have seen a thousand temples and buddha's in your life but if you really want to see something spectacular and different, go see Wat Paknam temple but you must take a canal boat to add to the experience.

Its really amazing. Biggest Buddha in Bangkok. It is in that canal where i saw the biggest water monitor ever. It was half our boat.

It's still a good place to cash money. The bank of Ayudha ATM (Krungsri/Yellow Bank) near Dairy Queen still allows withdrawals of up to 40000 Baht and gives you the option between the local rate or a dynamic exchange rate when withdrawing.

Loads of monitor lizards at my place already. They still give me a fright each time they rush into the water when I walk past. Also loads of huge tookays that sneak in somehow even though my house is supposed to be practically bug proof Didn't buy anything too crazy today. Just placed an order for some arapaima fingerings.

Seems the whole of Thailand is getting heavy rain. I have been in Chiang Mai for 7 days now and although not lighting up here, a lot of water. Been enjoying the cooler weather here as well.

Is it not still monsoon season?

Although, when we visited early-mid September in 2016, it was the tail-end of monsoon season, so only had one day with showers, and then only for a few hours.

Yes it is indeed but we had more rainfall and hectic flooding in Bangkok than recent years. This has been ongoing since late July and usually it start easing up end of September early October.
I am not complaining. Soon we will have loads of air pollution in Bangkok again due to fires in the north so taking all the rain we can get.

We leaving next month. I just have a quick question regarding cash. I am sure it has been covered before but I do not have time to scroll through the entire thread.

What is best, convert cash at the money exchangers or just withdraw large amounts at a time from an ATM?

I checked the fees with Standard Bank and its not too bad.

Swipe your SA card when you can and withdraw the maximum at ATMs over there for when you do need cash (Krugsri allows withdrawals of up to 40K Baht at ATMs attached to their branches).

Sure, as been said before, wether you withdraw R500 or R20k the transaction will cost you R110.
Cash is King here, make sure you always carry cash and make sure you also carry small denominations like 20, 50 and 100 baht.

Here people try not to swipe your cards, they will only swipe if the transactions are usually more than R350 or 600 baht.
Don’t worry about exchanging money. Draw directly with your VISA. No need for travellers cheques etc

Yes they are. You can use Grab app which is like Uber. Don’t take any taxi service because they are known to rip people off specially in Phuket.
So either use Grab or while you still in the airport, before you leave the terminal, you will see small kiosks which has like daily tours and things, ask them how much.
If it’s more than 800 baht (R400) move on. Don’t take the first offer.

Haha nice. Patong is f king hectic. Specially in the evenings. It’s a madhouse.
Do go visit the Sunday night market and do the hop on hop off bus. It’s worth every sent and they take you through all big attractions.
