In 1984 I bought a Honda Ballade 1.5 with a manual gearbox
In 1989 I sold it to a friend's wife in Kirstenhof for R3300
She worked at a fork-lift servicing place in Epping until she retired at the end of 2021. By this time the car had covered 605 000km
She drove it from Kirstenhof to Epping and back 5 days a week.
Her boss at this company changed the engine oil, filter and air-filter every 6 months and used Total 0-50 synthetic oil. The brake pads lasted 80 000km and windscreen wipers were replaced once a year. All work done free
The car runs perfectly
The only thing that broke since 1984 was the driver's window-winding handle

For some odd reason my mileage clock has gone dead, just when I wanted to post an update, I suspect foul play...

She worked for a fork-lift maintenance co and they maintain it perfectly, free of charge. Oil (Synthetic) every 8000km, new tyres every 2 or so years. It has had 4 clutches and 4 sets of brakes, 12 sets of windscreen wipers and in 2018 had covered 510 000km. A gent from Honda SA came to look at it and published an article in the Japanese factory magazine

She retired at the end of 2021 after working there for 33 years. The boss wanted to give her a Honda Civic but she said its too big for her. The steering pump is starting to become noisy on full lock

No, 5G-Tronic and I think it is due for an ATF flush as it surges when cold if you put it in drive or reverse.
Also needs a new accessory belt as it squeals when cold and the A/C is on.
Needs refrigerant toped up every year so it might also need a new A/C compressor/evaporator/condenser.
Just washed it and noticed a small rust spot at the bottom of the rear passenger door.

So there is lots to do on the car.

Might also have the option to buy a Volvo S80 in the coming months.

Sounds like it’s in good running order, probably cheaper to carry on topping up the aircon than repairing it, is it a 1.8L petrol?
Don't most S80 have beast engines that guzzle fuel?

S80 had option that silky smooth v8! Still more economical than a new Chinese suv!

Yes this is the M271 1.8L with 105kW - fuel economy is better than my Astra H and J. Only the 1.0 Corsa is more economical.

The S80 is not yet confirmed, the widow who owns it hardly uses it as her daily is a Corolla Cross Hybrid. Apparently, the hybrid made her realise how thirsty the S80 really is :ROFL:
Not sure if it is the V8, but I might be interested either way if the price is right as I do not plan to keep it for long.
