The Angry at "Clickbait" Thread

https://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php/878058-Why-South-Africa-is-not-ready-for-electric-cars

Got an infraction for saying it's clickbait in that thread and it said I should have said it here but if I would've said it here then I would've gotten this:

It is part of the business, but BusinessTech is editorially independent. Just ignore the BusinessTech forum if it frustrates you (putting the BT user in your ignore list will work).

So what is going on. MyBB just be straight with us and no putting BusinessTech on ignore doesn't stop it from showing on What's New and I'm not going to do some URL magic to remove it...

EDIT: Pray tell me this then why does BusinessTech show on Mybroadband when it's editorially independant??????

EDIT2: If it really is editorially independent then why does Kevin get to choose what is clickbait and what is not? He doesn't write the articles?

^ Stop clicking on BusinessTech threads and articles.
You've obviously opened the article, given them their clicks and then wonder why they don't allow you to properly ignore btech .
I do the same thing sometimes tho...

But isn't that the point of clickbait headings? They lure you in with a nice juidy heading to generate a click for revenue but does not deliver on what was sold in the heading.

Get it? Guess not...

If it's run independently of MyBB then why why does it show up in the forum?

Forum has the biggest user base. Must easier to lure MyBB forum members into generating revenue for Businesstech with clickbait headings :p

Mygaming used to do the same. didn't work or they have enough users now because haven't seen that bot post crap in the gaming section for ages.

btech probably benefits too much from forum clickthroughs for them to warrant a public rationalization for the current setup. I also wish the forum had a proper ignore function...I'm here to forum and don't mind the mybb articles but the btech stuff is a bit much. If I wanted to follow an independent entity I'd subscribe to their feed.

I still see the Showmax stuff there. What the hell that has to do with gaming only the Lord above knows.

Start a "Join the movement, don't click on BusinessTech links" thread and post a link to it everytime you come across one of the not posts

Thanks for the post. You did not receive an infraction, you received a warning. No points were added to the infraction total.
