Well at least now I know; not unexpected when the team ranked 3rd goes up against the team ranked 68th but also shows how we should be dominating teams ranked in the 120s and 130s.

We could easily have a team that could beat anyone in Africa, and that's not rating the PSL too high. Broos is just coming up with silly excuses, he is letting his pride get in the way of making a good judgment on the players he selects.

PSL is probably in the top 3 leagues in África. Not even ironically. We attract talent from all over. The problem is that the financial draw of the caf leagues is pointless compared to the psl. Kaizer Chiefs famously ignored qualification to these comps and were banned by caf. Tbf I think Rsa is just not as good as we think we are. I dunno maybe I'm cynical.

Edit. If we had a clinical finisher like shalulile we would be way better.

Did you know that the second top goalscorer behind Shalulile was not even selected for the squad? And that is what I am talking about, if the best goalscorer we have is not selected, the best midfielder in the country who won awards is not in the squad then who is in the squad?

I am not saying we are good but African teams are just as ordinary and there is no reason we cannot be competitive against them, in fact I have not seen a good team in a long time, even Nigeria is just as ordinary, Saying we are not good enough seems to imply that the teams we are competing against are, which of course is rubbish, they are just the same as us.

I think Broos' problem is that he is not keeping a cool head in the pressure the media a putting on him for his team selection decision, he is letting emotions cloud his judgment and when his team selections fail him he wants to say South African players are not good enough.

I think we were unfortunate against Morocco, a good coach should be doing more to plug the gaps and motivate the players. The not good enough narrative looks like he is preparing an exit strategy.

I agree with all of this, we saw shakes mashaba outplay some of these teams with the same "low quality" players that broos complains about, what did shakes in was his issues with overseas players

Most of our coaches have very low emotional intelligence, even Shakes was very prone to sulking, we just need a mature person who can handle the pressure, this guy is not inspiring any confidence in that regard. He should be inspiring the team and the players both in and outside of the squad, how do the players believe if the coach doesn't?

I thought we were on the right track with our youngsters and they were not very bad against Morocco, but this guy is just spoiling my mood and outlook on the future of the team.

Just say it: you want Broos gone. His tone is too direct and he should consider professional athlete's egos when he speaks.

Fact also is that Letsoalo wasn't picked because of his open play scoring rate. If 40% of your goals are penalties and you are a striker, then something isn't right.

What is the open play scoring rate of Evidence Makgopa? Or that of the strikers he picked ahead of Letsoalo? Just for comparison.

All coaches have their preference/biases in the end results will decide if Broos is right or not.
I just want us back qualifying for afcon and wc's, the magic these events provide to the country can't be underestimated.
