The Bafana Bafana Thread

I think Carlos made a great, passionate speech in english...it was funny though when questions came, and he went like..."huh"... to some of them

Somewhere along the line you suggested that Benni should be in the team (form is temporary, class is permanent lol) so I think it's reasonable to say you're riding your own personal hobby horse here.

Anyway, enjoy your tournament. I've just been offered another ticket (Ned / Den, first round). :D

offering? fifa is not offering me anything for a while now...enjoy..

You can always find him in the line at Maccy D's ordering the Big Mac up sized. :P

Chest oooout stomach in noooot stomach out chest in.

i'm sure u right...must have taken hard work to develop that in about 9 months..

all they needed was to superimpose an image of a bigmac on that soccer ball then benni would have been top goalscorer..

Interesting squad. Now they can start gelling with one another and getting their "gees" right for the first game. Go boys!

no more matches to gel i dont think...the team that is playing is pretty close to the final one..

My squad

------------------Josephs-------------------------

Gaxa --- Sangweni ---Thwala ---- Masilela

-----------Sibaya --- Dikgacoi ---------------

Pienaar <----------------------------> Nomvethe

-----------Moriri --------------Mphela -----------

Not a big fan of Mokoena at all. You are guaranteed to concede either a penalty of a set piece just out side the box needleesly if he is around.

that unnecessary freekick against brazil comes to mind..prefer klate to nomvete if you going to play that system...but ive heard that carlos doesnt like pure wingers...likes the r/l fullbacks to get in the crosses..

What about Tshabalala?

Parker's goal was awesome last night!

Tshabala is very predictable and has wayward shooting. He runs out of ideas when he's under pressure. Nomvete on the other hand can think spontaneously and play with either foot.
I'm yet to see Tshabalala trap the ball with his right foot., let alone shoot.

Fair enough, valid points. Just asking because Carlos keeps playing Tshabalala and he did score that goal from a free kick against Thailand.

Remember, Tshabala's left boot has great value for dummy free kicks and right corner kicks. And he can sometimes put in those long rangers.

So, Bafana beat Denmark 1-0 this afternoon. They are now on a 12 game unbeaten streak. The next next game is the World Cup openner against Mexico, on Friday at 4pm at Soccer City. You need to believe that Bafana can win that game. With a bit of luck, we can go to the round of 16!

Is there anywhere i can check out highlight videos of recent Bafana games? And are there any more friendly matches between any teams before the W.C. starts?

Parreria has apparently 'shown his hand', and named today's team:

The Bafana starting line-up:
Itumeleng Khune
Siboniso Gaxa, Aaron Mokoena (captain), Bongani Khumalo, Lucas Thwala
Reneilwe Letsholonyane, Kagisho Dikgacoi, Teko Modise, Steven Pienaar
Siphiwe Tshabalala
Katlego Mphela.

Note that this may be a mind game, the team doesn't need to be announced until one hour before kick off.

Also, go Bafana, start the WC with a win!

Not a bad team but I'm still a bit about worried about captain Mokoena. His frequent mistakes at the can can cost us. Anyways, Bafana Bafana FTW!! 1-0

Well people, our World Cup is over, but Bafana still have more work to do this year. First thing to do is get a new coach, and SAFA have said that they will announce who it is before the end of the WC. Most people are calling for Gavin Hunt to get the job.

Bafana also have 2 AFCON qualifiers to play in this year. The qualifiers are for both the 2012 and 2013 tournements, and we need to win the group to make sure of a place at the tournement. Only 2 of the 10 runners up (excluding Group K with 2 garunteed spots) goes through. Bafana are in Group G with Egypt, Sierra Leone and Niger. The first game is on 5 September against Niger in SA. The second is away to Sierra Leone on 10 October.

Gavin hunt is the best coach in the country, i am sick of this Brazilian BS just get someone in who knows the league and players like he does so we go forward.
