The Bafana Bafana Thread

Why do SABC always use ten minutes in English and ten minutes in Sotho on commentary. Can they not do what SuperSport do and give fans the option of choosing a preferred language? Majority of the population does not understand Sotho so it does not make sense.

You need DStv to access language channel options. They'll hopefully do that once we go digit in the distance future.

So the equation is straight forward for qualifying for the final pool, beat Zim and avoid a loss at Ghana. Assuming Ghana don't stumble at their other game.

I will be very honest, we have been very lucky, especially against Ethiopia, but then maybe we do deserve some luck.

I was very impressed by Ethiopia, in the right hands they have enough talent to go places, hopefully Broos tweaks our squad because that can't be it, the coloured youngster looked lost in the middle, we need Jali to take charge of that midfield.

Please don’t tell me you’re one of those calling for the “experienced” players. Bo Jali have had their opportunity and didn’t really take us anywhere. Surely Broos is doing something right regardless of the perceived luck we have have experienced?

Yes I am, I am not calling for a wholesale of changes but if you just don't have the quality in the youngsters you must have one or two experienced players.

Yes, Broos is doing something right, having luck and doing something right aren't mutually exclusive. Simple point is that he has to fix that midfield, what happened yesterday with having the likes of Ngcobo in the midfield should not happen, we clearly are lacking there and he must fix it.

Anyone who watches the team and the games so far can appreciate the progress we are making whilst also noting that we in need of experienced players, it does not have to be Jali, it can be any other player, but if I was the coach I wouldn't waste time looking elsewhere for now.

We look so much more incisive than in the past. Just need that final touch.

Is it me or is qualifying an extremely hard job for this world cup? Was it not just about winning your group and you are through? Does it work the same in Europe?

Nope... The winners in the Aftican groups, play another team from Asia/Oceania i think. Its a rubbish system used by Fifa imo, because European teams dont have to play another country from a different region..

The top 5 in the next stage go through without playoff with Europe. It's the Eurasia winner who play off. In the last Africa let the 5 group winners through but now they've changed for more TV money.
