The Division

I managed to get in roughly 3 hours of gaming done last night.

After watching the Intro Cinematic, the idea of the Watch from the Sleeper Agent Edition suddenly made sense :o

The Tutorial zone was a fantastic starting point. It took me an hour or so to mentally switch from playing FPS to TPS.

Unfortunately there is no Shoulder Switch button on console :( So that takes some getting used to, wiggling your character behind cover to get the right shoulder you want

Wireless Internet + Last night's storm in JHB proved fun! Mobs respond exactly as they do in Destiny when lagging; teleporting around and bullets register locally but when the server catches up, you've emptied clips and clips into the scenery :p The average latency between firing and seeing damage numbers is apparent on my internet connection

I had one disconnect (Delta error) while changing zones but otherwise, it really is incredibly seamless - no load screens once you're in the world.

shoulder switching
ps4 - click L3
xb1 - push LS

only works while aiming.

Day 2:

Don't worry, this won't become a daily diary :p
Managed to play largely flawlessly whilst also streaming from Netflix (10mb ADSL with Crystal Web for any interested).
There was an odd hiccup for about 30s where it appeared like nothing was happening... after which a few NPC's turned into the Flash.

Someone added me as a friend (not sure if he/she is from here) and bar the communication problem, we went on a few side-quests and encounters before he/she DC'd. I can understand why playing in a group would ultimately be more enjoyable. I would suggest if you plan on doing this, make sure everyone is on voice comms or at least reading group chat. Not being able to do this was the only thing that hampered the "full" experience last night. Fortunately it seemed like we had a decent enough understanding of who would engage, as well as covering multiple sides.... I liked that :)

I've not been back into the Dark Zone. I'd rather be around level 15ish so the higher level 'molesters' don't just vaporize me, should they stick in the low-level areas.

As much as it's suggested to not craft at low levels, I have a blue Scar (H I think - the marksman rifle) that is calling me.... Mmmmmmmm. Funnily enough, I haven't opened all three wings of my BoO yet, but I have been into new higher level areas.

Enjoying this game so far.

I crafted one last night just before I was going to log off... then promptly spent 30min mucking around with it outside :D The health talent is very nice, but it's very much a semi automatic rifle... I do personally prefer the bolt action themed marksman rifles however.

The crafting system is easy enough to grasp... Does anyone know if the Electronics/Tools zones found outside respawn over time or once you've looted it, you can't find any more materials from that small purplish grey zone?

Nice round up.

I've managed to get in a couple nights with the game. Both nights with friends, and must say, it been good fun. We communicated via TeamSpeak, and it really adds to the experience. Have yet to play with randoms using the match making option.

The difficulty ramps up with the more members you have in your party, which makes it a lot more fun. We had a 3 man party going, and was doing fine in a mission. Suddenly a 4th joined up and the 3 of us (getting a bit cocky) get wrecked!

Minimal lag/delay on my side. My one friend looked like he was ice skating for maybe a 10 second period, and that is it. Even in the Dark Zone the lag has been fine.

Overall, having good fun with the game, and I can see myself putting many hours into it.

Any of you guys playing with LTE internet. Looking at getting the game but a bit worried about the lag over the Telkom LTE I currently have.

I'm on 3G with Afrihost connecting my modem via USB onto my PC and sharing the internet connection through LAN to my PS4 :o

As I said in my previous comment, there is a noticeably tiny delay (less than a second) between firing and seeing the damage numbers...

I would say that was due to the storm last night, but where that kind of storm would make me ragequit Destiny, I did not have nearly as many issues in The Division. I had no player interaction however, so I can't tell how bad the rubber banding was/is in a Group or using Matchmaking

So far so good on 3G! More testing will be done

any fix the blank screen crap on PC? I tried alt-enter. Does nothing.

Thanks for the feedback guys, will see if I can pick it up maybe before the weekend

Are you using Nvidia or AMD?

From my limited knowledge of the PC version, apparently everyone needs to stay away the new Nvidia drivers

Nvidia, but the older drivers.

Silly question time :o

When you get the Blank screen, is there any sound and can you alt+tab/ctrl+alt+del back to the desktop at all?

Are you able to launch the game in Windowed mode?

Are you using a multi-monitor setup?

No multi monitor,
Alt-tab does nothing, ctrl-alt-delete does nothing, windows key does nothing, its a grey/blank screen with sound and thats it.

I havent been able to get into windowed mode to try.

Ok so there is sound...

I havent been able to get into windowed mode to try.

Do you have the Steam/Uplay version? (I'm sure the Steam version does require Uplay in any case)

If you've got the Uplay version, you can add The Division to Steam and setup the launch options to run in Windowed mode

Uplay, how do I get it into steam? What gfx card are you running?

I'm not sure if this answers your question, but the 'grey zones' respawn every 2 hours.
I also saw a perk that allowed you to collect weapon parts from your base once every now and then.

Uplay, how do I get it into steam? What gfx card are you running?

If no one else answers, I'll post the link I used sometime tonight. I'm blocked at work... Google it if you're looking for more immediate help though.

Regarding the black screen, have you been through the thread on r/thedivision?

Thanks, Yeah I have everyone suggets alt-enter which does nothing. I will try to manually edit the file.
