i hope i did it right

azimuth china id be lucky if i will be able to do a speed test becoz my data usually dont last long!

There you go. RichardG, you have better LTE signal than all of us yet you have the slowest speed of the last few contenders. I mean -96dBm is borderline. It makes no sense at all.

Edit: ok you have similar signal to me. Yet our results differ hugely.

good morning guys! i must say im really impressed with the router! last night i tested my router with my xbox, played online game call of duty. usaully when i play the gameplay is extremely slow but last night it was really quick a joy to play. if i log onto internet, the issue was not about being fast. it was a hassle to get disconnected often and then struggling to get back online. Last nyt even with two bars signal strenght, not once did i get disconnectedso that was a really nice surprise the fact that i did not get disconnected once. and like azimuth said, im the one with the bad/borderline signal!

Don't forget mate without an antenna was getting around -101 dBm which isn't acceptable in my books cos on weekends the speeds would be worst than dial up, now with an antenna getting -74 dBm and it doesn't matter what time I run the speedtest nothing changes - either the backhaul capacity is 30 Mbps or my router is faulty.

The max speedtest I did see when their contractors were at my premises was around 25 megs.

Go big 120 gig way too small for me. I hope Telkom offer 240 gig packages or 300 gig packages.

I requested FTTH info from MTN. They mailed me forms so hoping the pricing is good. The installation cost isn't too bad. I'd like to go uncapped obviously. Perhaps then I will cancel DSTV and go Hulu and Netflix full-time.

Hi Guys.

Great news, (B593s-601) 10 units only ETA next week, if interested pls. pm me.
I am certainly keeping one for myself to test. Will also post results.

Thanks

Hi,

Does anyone have connectivity issues with the B593u-12 as supplied by MTN? I now have my 3rd router and I always lose connectivity every 5-10mins. I even resorted to a physical connection between my laptop and the router this is not helping. I'm starting to think my setup might be the problem.

I am also nowhere near the 50Mbps club although MTN have LTE coverage in my neighbourhood (Vorna Valley in Midrand). Here is my speedtest: http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/3506292831

My wireless diagnosis is also provided. I am using a poynting antenna XPOL-0002.Wireless diagnosis.jpg

Please help

Hi have that router though it is a rebranded Vodafone one. Works without an issue. Your problem must lie somewhere else.

Why not test with Vodacom LTE? Or Afrihost LTE?

Hey guys, managed to find the B593s-601 units and happy to help you acquire one if you are keen. These are NOT grey imports but are imported through official channels (ICASA approved). At present there is stock. I am selling them on BOB for R2695 but willing to give guys on the forum that quote "Mybroadband" in the email a discount at R2545 INCL VAT. You can collect from our Paulshof offices in Johannesburg or I can ship to you next day delivery (send me your physical address and I will confirm cost of shipping). I will invoice you so you have a VAT invoice for the unit too.

Email me [email protected] if interested.

@Connection too overpriced! Telkom Mobile sale them even cheaper and offer warranty and after sales support with their product. Even though you do claim to state they not grey imported! If they have the ICASA sticker on them then they not grey importants but local stock :)

I miss my router! Should have brought it along with on this trip - miss LTE especially!

As I understand it, getting hold of this particular model is not easy so if you cannot get from Telkom, you can get from us. And we will also offer a standard 1 year warranty.

Thanks Azimuth. Will try that option.
MTN Support advised to change the connection mode from "Auto" to "Manual" and the Network Mode from "Auto" to "WCDMA" only.

Is there a way to extend the wifi signal? I have seen wifi signal extenders at IC but do not know if they work with this router.

You should avoid range extenders if possible. They halve your maximum possible wifi throughput. See here.
