Paid for mine 1499.00 two months ago. Don't think at that time there was any pre-paid option.
I also think this deal might be contracted related somehow.

Before you get LTE-A in your area that model might be superseded. Then you want the new one. Never ending story.

Looks like non contract based as it says "once off" next to the price. Maybe device reaching EOL & paving way for the B315? Even with the Gauteng LTE uncapped , since last week Telkom said the contract now comes with the B315 in place of the B593. That's what they told me

Ok that is why they are trying to rid of old stock. But from what I see there is nothing wrong with the router.
I have two in my household.

Month ago I still received the B593 router on contract.
 
Yeah, the Telkom rep tested LTE at my place and said as much. Haven't seen the B315 for sale anywhere yet.

Two ways to get it.
1) Prepaid
2) Contract

Your choice. Which one you will get, only Telkom shop will tell you what stocks they have. :D
If LTE works at your place and you cant get proper ADSL. Then way wait.
Was on discussion a while back about the B315.

Anyway this is the B593 thread.

B593 is EOL, it is why is on special. B315 is a new one. B593 is completely not suitable in home media environment, B315 is (according to the specification, speak about it in another thread).

To others, talk about B593, it is your thread but don't tell me that we shouldn't mention B315 in the cases where B593 evidently fails. Here is a new king (standard price R1899 @Cell C), E5186 is not.

"I have the same problem. Once I clicked on CWMP, it just hangs and says it's checking for updates, but nothing happens. It also doesn't allow one to bet back into the Update Menu again. If one logs out and logs in again, and then clicks on update, it takes one straight to the checking updates page and not into the actual update menu which has other options for updates.
What is one supposed to do now? "

Hey SandyG

The issue of poor firmware support for the B593 (and for Huawei devices in general) has come up many times in this thread.
Basically, none of the auto update methods on the B593 configuration interface work, and firmware updates are in any case few and far between. Nice, hey ? :twisted:

Just have a look at the table in this post and make sure you've got the latest version of firmware for your device type. If you have, be happy until you hear news of a newer one (probably on this thread!).
If not, obtain the latest version from the link Conrads provided here and load the file manually.

I'd just like to know if I get the SmartBroadband Uncapped Wireless deal with Telkom for Uncapped LTE, they give you the Huawei B593 LTE Router, does it do 3G in areas where there is no LTE coverage?

So I guess what I'm asking is - albeit unethical - could you take the router on holiday with you and access 3G speeds where LTE is not offered?

Mine doesn't connect to 3g even with 5 bars.

I only use 3G with my B593 cos I don't live in an LTE area. Works much better than any 3G router I've ever used. Not sure what ethics have to do with it?

Are you on the Telkom Gauteng uncapped LTE offer?
 
B593 will connect to 3G, but SIM card must allow it. So buyeye might be on the spot (depends on the tariff plan).

2G/3G failover will not be supported as the SmartBroadband Uncapped Wireless service is a fixed
wireless service which must be used in a fixed location. The SmartBroadband Uncapped Wireless
subscriber will not be able to roam on Telkom or MTN’s 2G/3G network and shall be limited to Telkom’s
fixed wireless LTE network
