Im off...Will help you later on tonight if someone (sufferwell) doesnt beat me to it :)

Sorry

lol

Hey guys...

I am the proud owner of a new iPhone **gloat** and I need to ask a few questions... pls forgive me if they have been asked in the past, but bear with me, I need to know a few things about this phone.

Its currently running 1.1.3 as firmware revision... obviously if I upgrade the firmware to the latest 1.1.4 the phone will become network locked again. Just how much of a mission is it to get this thing unlocked again, and also is there any advantage in going with the latest version... is there any major critical bugs fixed or new features that's available with the latest version which the prior firmware doesnt have. Also, from the bit of reading I have done, seems Ziphone is the best utility to do the job. Also where do I download the latest Firmware if its a viable option to go for ?

If you have OSX then use Pwnage if not then I cant help much because I only do unlocking on OSX now and not really interested with PC unlocking anymore.

Pwnage allows you to upgrade/restore firmware in iTunes without locking your iPhone.

firmwares available here...

They won't work as some application only work on certain firmwares.

Try looking for Homework Agenda for 1.1.3.

Your best bet it to upgrade to 1.1.4 as most of the apps are released to work on this firmware.

Do you guys notice that if you don't hard-reset the phone at least once a week 1.1.4 becomes a bit buggy?

i.e It will state I have SMS or Missed Calls when in actual fact I don't. 'End Call' lands up at the top of the screen, when it should be at the bottom..

No big deal just asking ;)

Nope, I've had mine running for a month without problems, I sometimes do a hard reset after installing applications though.

3g Settings in 2.0 Firmware
As if there is any doubt that the 3g iPhone is coming soon. Some 3g settings have been found in the 2.0 firmware.

iphone-3g-screen-shot.jpg

The settings page was found in the latest beta release of 2.0 firmware. IF you don't know, 3g drains cell phone batteries very quickly. Don't worry in an effort to save some battery life Apple has included a setting to turn 3g off, and use normal slow edge instead.

So with your 3g iPhone you'll have a choice, murder your battery or surf at 1995 speeds.

Has anyone found an app/setting that will dim the iPhone backlight after a set amount of time as opposed to locking the device and switching off the screen every 5min?

Basically I cant leave it alone for very long (come now - its not just me, right?) so when I am at my desk I would like the screen to dim after like 2min but all I'd need to do to wake it up is tap once somewhere.

Walking around I usually lock it manually and thats that, but top button/swipe every time I fancy a fiddle is too much (especially when youre doing it a hundred times a day!).
Any thoughts?

Also: *bump* for SwirlyMMS on CellC - anyone got it working?
