The Official 3G Iphone Thread

I can't seem to get a straight answer out of Vodacom on this: I pre-registered on the Vodacom website on the day they started accepting registrations. Since then, all I had was the one (carrot adjusting) SMS confirming that they know I want one.

Lately people are talking about getting your name on a list in a Vodashop. My problem with doing that is I will be travelling a bit this week and can't say for sure which Vodashop will be most convenient for me to visit to pick up the phone. Also, putting my name on a list at a Vodashop this late in the game feels like giving up my spot near the front of the queue.

What do I need to do to ensure I get my phone on launch day?
 
I have been investigating inside.apple.com and it seems that it might be some sort of span coming from an unofficial apple mailserver. Anybody else find anything out about inside.apple.com? I would just like to know if the email that went out about the launch date is 100% true?
 
i got the email about the 26th as the launch date as well... if you click on the link in the email marked "where to buy the iphone" it takes you to
http://www.apple.com/za/iphone/buy/?cid=CDM-EU-2011
and the footer at the bottom of the email..

Well I really hope that the release day is on friday, because I really want a new phone. :D
 
I have just been to the vodashop near me and they told me the iPhone will be out next week, do you think I can trust them? haha:confused:
 
No-one knows - we phone the Vodashops and cellucity stores almost daily and everyone has a different answer - LWAS! Lets wait and see!
 
just called my voda shop in p.m.b that dog says 25th....... said i must come early to get one 1st. going to knock him the fck out if he is lieing
 
My local vodashop - whom I have given in excess of 220 3G notebook deals - reckons I can only get mine first week in October... I just want an iPhone!
 
According to Durban Vodashop they are getting so much stock that you don't even have to bother pre registering...

Well Durban are the first to get the iPhones shipped from China offloaded at the docks.. :)

I received an email from VodaCom Direct with a link for pre-approval for the Iphone. Anyone else get the same email?

I don't understand how some can get these mails and others (read me) not.

According to "rapidblue" over on the forums at theiphoneblog Vodacom is busy arranging a large bash for the launch at midnight Thursday, thus making the phone available on the 26th.
 
ok guys... One guy cancelled his iPhone 3G so I have one available as of next week. Price is R6500 (cheaper due to new supplier). It's brand new, Sealed.

Ordered it and the guy got cold feet.

First one to pay the R1000 deposit gets it. If Vodacom actually launches the iPhone 3G while you are waiting for this one and the price is cheaper then you can get your deposit back. If you want to.

that price is probably going to be cheaper than Vodacoms :cool:
 
I was at another vodacom store yesterday evening and the guy told me that he is going on training today and will tell me tonight for sure when they are launching the phone. He said it will probably be launched on friday. :D:D
