here we go, something more Official from Apple Insider:

"Apple is gearing up for its third and final phase of international iPhone expansion during the 2008 calendar year, which will include launches in Russia, Brazil and Egypt, but not China or Korea.

Some of those launches are expected to take place as early as this weekend. E-mails sent to AppleInsider readers this week from local carriers imply the device will be available in both Brazil and South Africa this Friday, September 26th."

but we all knew that already...
we want prices now.

Just my 2cents. Heard from reliable source, iphone 8gb is gonna be R6500. Launching this friday on contract and prepaid(not sure bout this one). MTN have also bagged a deal to sell iphone but that will come later on. Dion Wired at gateway getting 100 units, of which 80 already pre-ordered in store. Special edition 16gb White will be released in time for Christmas.

Wonder if the Google phone will be cheaper than the iphone.

Also wonder what the relative price difference will be between MTN and Vodacom's iphone packages and "cash buy".

Correction:
1: There are no preorders at ANY STORES nationwide. It is first come firtst serve.
2: Vodacom knows the prices :)yes iPhone's are sitting in the back room with pamflets with pricing etc...
They will not tell people because they dont want 4 people attending the launch, so they attract everyone and reveal prices, you sitting with your credit card, so hey whats R2000 more when you only have to pay R100 a month lol :) They are very very clever.
3:MTN Wont get the iPhone.... and the White model is available in... well 24 hours aswell :)

See you all tomoz night at vodaworld!

lol, exactly what I was thinking...

Please tell me then why vodacom has not gave us pricing?:D
Oh and i lived in the states last year got an iPhone and worked with at&t for the first gen launch, moved here and worked for vodacom for 6 months this year, they are clever with marketing. They dont need to advertise, cause they know they ganna be sold out, at&t in the states advertised about 2wice on TV bout 4 months before the release, just to let ppl know what the phone is.....

Oh and i apologise for not sitting on forums all day.....

iPhone upgrades

Spoke to a salesman at Cellucity yesterday (who in my opinion has always had better/more knowledgeable customer care) and the guy told me that the iPhone is not going to be made available on upgrades - only Prepaid and brand new contracts.

This is rather pathetic - it is essentially a way to get the maximum amount of profit out of a phone which has received a lot of hype. So I guess all the people who have been waiting for an upgrade are out of luck... PATHETIC

Look I think we must just wait for Vodacom's marketing machine to do its thing and see what happens tonight. We are going to be screwed either way lets face it.

Yes, because the iPhone will not be available on existing packages, The are introducing new packages that are bundled with the phone, like the Blackberry.
Also people complain saying that it is half the price?! It cost more everywhere than the old one. Im not too sure what prices vodacom will have but my gues is around R400 P/M With the Pay in. Dunno if it works the same here, but Apple sells the Phone to providers (I knew this from at&t) for the price they say ($199 and $299) and for every contract at&t sells they gotta pay apple like $300, but they still make a shiznit load of cash;)

seriously wtf is there so much secrecy from Vodacom regarding the price. For heavens sake.... it's the same concept of signing for something without even checking if you can afford it. I mean come on! All I've been wanting to know over the past few months is just a bloody price along with the contract price.....but noooooooo. It's a *secret*. Ugh!!!

Apple made us all sign agreements. Thats why Vodacom and all the dealers are keeping quiet. And i doubt that the 8gb is gonna be free on a Talk 240. But lets see and wait for tomorrow to come. I havnt even received deals for the iphone yet. I do have prices. and i even got stock.
