I don't know if I am being dense, but when I tried out a demo iPhone the other day, I went into the settings menu, couldn't return to the main menu. I couldn't find any option to return to the main menu.

Anyway, have decided on the Omnia for my upgrade! :D

Poor guy:D I was also thrown off by this ONE(crappy) button, was weird in the beginning... Would still much rather have hardware "red" & "green" buttons on any phone:eek:

Got my iPhone yesterday

Must say I am very happy with the iPhone....

It integrates seamlessly with my Macbook Pro. The easiest setup ever. Plug in, sync with iTunes, done!

It syncs everything, contacts, calendar, mail, bookmarks, music, photos, movies, applications, podcasts...what a breeze...

Few niggles that's not so great, cannot forward text messages, predictive text not so cool with Afrikaans, no games on the app store.

Otherwise I just love it. :D

Hey guys,

Got an iphone (8gig) and got Vodacom to activate internet on it.

Struggling with the app store though. Yesterday I downloaded facebook and a few others, but can't do anything this morning - keep getting an "Your account is valid for the South African Itunes store only). Even if I try to get an update for the facebook app.

Anyone with a similar problem?

i have the same problem evey now and again.

do you have 2 itune accounts? cause i found that it sets the iphone up with the account you used last. so if you have a US and a SA account the one you are logged in as when you sync is sent accross. Then you can only update the apps from that store.

Sometimes it just does not work though, you have to keep trying.

Nah, only have an SA account.

Is this an error in my phone or on behalf of itunes?

no idea,

but prob just a login problem with the store. I find it works much better if you are in a wifi zone. then its fast.
If you are using 3g then there are lots of things that can cause it to fail. mainly signal.

Hmmm... That could make sense because yesterday I downloaded stuff at home and it worked fine.

This morning I tried at work and it kept giving me that error message. Maybe the connection is just worse here then.

Will try again when I get home.

Thanks for your help dude!

Has anyone found that installing certain apps kills the battery life?.

I tried a few apps that are pretty useless and only really an interest install and my battery life has taken a serious dive. even though nothing is running you can almost see the power going down.

super irritating!!

Damn you dunno how much I want copy and paste right now. Such an essential feature that Apple left out, lets just really hope that they stick it in the next update... It shouldn't be such a hard thing to do right? Or is there something in the way the iPhone works that prevents them from adding it?

Copy and Paste is not as easy to integrate into the iPhone as it sounds....there are many articles on the web about this...if it was easy the developing community would have had a fix ages ago....don't worry...after a while you won't miss copy and paste.

You can turn off predicative text....quickpwng (http://blog.iphone-dev.org/post/46350708/my-little-pwnie-quickpwn) and install the Disable Auto-Correction app via Cydia.

Now seeing that you have a MBP...try MobileMe. I have a trail version and I have been growing quite fond of it!

Well...walked into Vodaworld today, having already convinced myself i will be buying one prepaid and leaving with one, and walked out without one.

I spoke to 3 shops there, and all 3 told me they have had quite a few ppl coming back with various problems. Ok, so I wrote that off as just beginner glitches. Still was going to take it. Then i spoke to another person who said to me "the iPhone isn't as good as they say" and she was selling them!
Ok..so I ignored that one too.
Then someone said to me "basically you have a year guarantee. If it breaks, they swap it out for a recon one. After a year, if it breaks...then throw it away. SA has NO repair facility"
Ok...so maybe they were exaggerating? I am sure after a year it will be sent back to the USA for repair. However that isn't great service, and I don't want to spend R6500 on a phone that i can only really count on for a year. Hmm.. was getting wary, but still thought I would buy one.
So lastly I play with another live phone on display. Try to compose an sms. Choose the phonebook to select a contact. Now granted there were a lot of contacts on that phone, but i thought I hadn't pressed the button correctly, because it took about 8 seconds to open the phonebook.
Tried it about 5 times, with the same result. Does this phone do this when it has a lot of data on it? Hmm...that was the point that i decided to wait a while, and decide later if it is worth all the hype.
So no iPhone yet. maybe later..maybe something else.
Just thought I would share. Anyone have any comments..maybe I was seeing things.

Rexton, can you tell me more about this? Who did you speak to? I thought that it is possible to unlock any phone now via iTunes, is this not the case?

Guys why has an office suite not been released via the appstore yet? Something to edit .doc .xls etc files.

Is there no developer in the world that thinks this MIGHT be useful? Not one?? **** me!
This is starting to get silly man!

I had the same problem with the contacts list. I had over 3500 contacts in it. it used to be really slow till i upgraded to 2.1. now it comes up instantly.
