The Official 3G Iphone Thread

i am si tired of all the iphone talk... Everyone i know that owned the previous ons is so gatvol of it. And how do people fail to realise that it lacks many basic features (fwd sms, copy paste to name but 2)!! This phone is like spidermanY, over hyped, over priced and more of a publicity thing than quality product. Frankly the phone itself is useless, but wekl done to apple's marketing dept for making it seem awesome...

The cracks are known issues. It's caused by the heat that the phone releases...

That's why I prefer the 2G one :)

Yeah I agree. My cousin got the 3G on Friday and dropped it off at me to update to 2.1.

The touch screen was faulty! Couldn't enter pin, type sms's or anything. This was weird as it was only in the bottom left corner. Sent it back today, hopefully they replace her with a new one...

Anyone here using a screen protector - does it not affect the sensitivity of the touch screen?

I got a Gear4 case for my iPhone and it has a screen protector in the box - just want to know if its worth putting on.

It depends which one you have really..

I can't remember which brand mine is, but it does affect the sensitivity a tiny bit..

But it keeps the screen protected and since it's a more matte material, it doesn't soak up all the facial oils (gross i know.. but it happens) :p

But then again my friend has the privacy film which comes with the iRevo case and that doesn't affect his sensitivity at all, but i don't think it really protects :D

Went in to Vodacom today to see whether they can unlock the US version. The one guy said no problem, I just need to go to customer care... after walking a 1000 meters further down the shopping mall I get to the Customer care. Ask who can assist me and none of them knew what to do. Then eventually one of the techies came and said you need to plug it into your computer and run it through iTunes SA... (felt like slapping him) told him in a calm voice I have tried that... then he said: "Are you sure that you inserted the Vodacom sim"

That is when I got up without saying a word and walked out.

P.S - I had to show them how to put a sim into the iPhone... they didn't know how to insert a sim.

Why would you need to unlock it if on the other thread you say we just need a turbosim?

Well no carrier can 'officially' unlock the US version so you could have saved yourself the trip, Vodacare are obviously clueless about this and don't understand that AT&T owns US model iphones, they subsidize it and only they can unlock it.

I'm using an invisibleshield and my screen sensitivity is exactly the same, I can't notice any difference with or without it.

It can be unlocked with a Turbosim but wanted to see if they could software unlock it... this would have been great news to the dev team.

I put the protector on and can't notice much difference - the first time I used it I had to use a bit more pressure but then it went back to normal - I am sure the OS detects the fingure pressure and adjusts accordingly.

I also bought the Gear4 case, but have taken it off....I know it doesn't add much width to my 3G iPhone, but I like to see & feel my phone in its original glory. :)

Maybe I'll put it back on. ;)

Of course it does - it's MAC OS ;) It even detects how you use your thumb/finger when typing on the keyboard and adjusts accordingly... That's why there is no need for calibration.
