I really doubt this.
The Sunday papers had no advertisements for the phone, that would be an obvious must, wouldn't it? Either that or the people at Vodacom are brain-dead.
The Vodacom EX-pre-registration page now has this piece of text under the image of the iphone coming soon:
To pre-register for the iPhone 3G please visit your nearest Vodashop

So I wonder what happens to all the information of the people that did previously 'pre-register' I havent heard a peep and i must have put up my name four times just to make sure.

Deep deep sigh, hoping that when i wake up it is "released", but I really really doubt it.
 
I just found vodashop.mobi

It allows you to request the iPhone 8Gig for upgrade or cash purchase. No pricing listed though.

Does this mean no 16Gig available?
 
This is typical South African service. Big company doing what they want with no concern for the customer.... It’s not like Vodacom is not making a killing as it is. Profits in the billions and still not willing to do something for the loyal customers. This was the main reason why I got mine elsewhere. They just could not care when you contacted
them. They know they have us by the b...s.
That and the fact my gadget buying gear was in overdrive and I could not help myself. haha
 
oh, and the 3g network is crap. the phone is constantly switching from edge to 3g. the only place you get full 3g bars is arround the center of durban. They seems to have real problems with valleys. no 3g signals at all in them.

Also upgrade to firmware to 2.1 asap, its alot faster....

yes just phoned the platinum store they said in 2 weeks time officially ... if i wanted one like today she could get one for me .... but not cheap ... R9k something and R11k something for the 8gig and 16 respectively ... its crazy .. thtas a rip off ... vodacom aint gonna be cheap at all ....!!! ... this is sooo like a scam ... lol!!!! ...branch code and bank acc is sooo fake ...

but how did they manage to let it come out on my phone that it says "vodashop" ... it just says vodashop ... no number nothing ... lol!!!!

i got this sms a second ago from "vodashop" ...
"Your deal number is xxx. Please pay R150 into std bank acc: 100200300 Br: 123456. use your cell as reference" ... huh i aint just gonna pay that amount !?!?!?! anyone else get this?
 
Well guys, I have been following this thread for a long time and was suppose to upgrade ages ago but instead i've been waiting for the iPhone. If i have to wait any longer, I will not buy it. Because I don't want a phone thats already almost a year old. What do you guys think?

For me the only stumbling block is the price - depending how much? I might get it. Just phoned the Vodashop at the Kollenade - they still in the dark.. no pricing, no release date nothing.

nice timing too .. haha :D ... but whats funny is that the sms says its from "vodashop" ... no number and i dont have a "vodashop" on my contacts ... no details to the "vodashop" number ... lol ... how they do that?

So the 22nd was just another bland normal day :-)

Why would Vodacom release a phone on a Friday? You would think that they would want to maximise sales hence launch it on a Monday.
