Epic Games Launcher idle bug seems to be making Ryzen CPUs run hotter​


If you have the Epic Games Launcher running in the background on your PC, there’s a good chance that it’s increasing the temperatures of your processor while also sending data to multiple servers. This issue was initially reported by a Reddit user, which was followed by others confirming similar findings on their own systems.

Just want to add that the same user who have discovered this issue have also seen the same 'anomaly' with Corsair's iCue. Others who participated in the Reddit discussion have also experienced this with their Intel CPUs.

I also tested this and the EGS resource utilisation is rather erratic. Whether it is an old or new issue introduced via an update I don't know. But don't play CP2077 with EGS running in the background :ROFL:

Those who may be too concerned, you can claim your 'premium' games via the EGS website.

Yup, I've noticed this for a while. Like right now, EGS is just sitting in the System Tray, yet Task Manager shows it chowing 3.5% on a R5 3600 at max clock.

Also, whoever gave Running with Rifles away a month ago, I've just got around to installing it. What an amazing little game.
