The Tata Bolt Thread (Tata Lovers)

Had to take my sist to the airport yesterday afternoon, and on my way home the highway was nice and quiet. Normally I just go about 100 on the highway, but decided to go for it a bit. 120 / 130 in places. Very happy. Stable like a big car, no rattles or anything bad at higher speeds. I was surprised though at the low revs at that speed? Was at 3000 rpm. In the mini it would be 4000? Any idea why? Even at the lower revs though, the car responded very quickly still to giving more gas.

Gear ratios

Just means you can do way more than 130 :p
But also helps with fuel consumption at highway speed of 120

Sales-wise not hitting the mark

That's though, they still have a reputation of being a cheapy, and R150k just isn't cheap enough.

A real pitty. It deserves to do so much better. I love my Usain Bolt

I hear what Usain, man.

But driving a rather uncommon car is like hooking up with the slightly less popular girl at school...it might not be general consensus but it's still fun and they usually have a few tricks in the bag to boot :p

Too much competition from the likes of Renault Sandero and others, they will unfortunately have to do more to set themselves apart, because they are competing against very formidable rivals in especially the Sandero.

I have an idea for Tata SA. Should not cost too much ito development.

An SA-exclusive "Bolt RS".

Tune the turbo mill from 66kw & 140nm to about 85kw & 180nm.

Lower that bad boy. Stylish locally developed 17". A nice skirting package; full colour coding. Inside quality leather.

Price it not too much more than the current top model.

Bingo.

Brand awareness; brand ambassador etc.

Sounds good, they can call it the Lightning ;-)

Yes, you can replace the turbo, but it will affect your warranty.

The BAIC D20 will be "some" competition to the Bolt. Interesting times ahead once production begins next year.

I would have the bigger turbo retrofitted lol. I like the rest of my car just as he is. :)

Out of interest, can a turbo be upgraded?

Could probably flash the ECU, to "trick" the turbo to push more boost to the engine. You can also buy a chip that plugs into ECU that does this also, not sure if there is one for tata's, there is for VW and few other makes.
