No, at a customer office. They have those low brick barriers in the parking lot and I parked in the space right next to it. I got in the car and took a call and then when done with the call I completely forgot about this barrier and made a sharp turn and scratched my wheels against it. :cry:

Eish, does not look bad though, it's better to live with it and wait until you have a few of those then you can take it to a mag place to have it fixed.

Ja. I am just very cross with myself because I have been very careful not to do that.....and if I just did not take that call as I got into the car I would not have forgotten about the barrier that is right next to me. Stupid stupid stupid.

Sorry to bother, are you still able to do the IMEI checks on phones?
I recently came into a phone from a friend who upgraded, and after doing a factory reset etc i get Phone not Allowed. Have called the service providers (new and old) and both have no issue on their side.

Can you perhaps see if everything looks good ?

On Monday afternoon, I had to go out to a mine near Burgersfort in Mpumalanga. I drove there via the N2 & R 555 - some sections of the R 555 are so badly potholed that it was like doing an extended rallycross stage for about 100 kms or so - and then there are MASSIVE speed humps to also contend with on the section approaching the turnoff to Burgersfort, located about 60 kms or so before Steelpoort, as well.

I then decided to take the R 540 through Dullstroom & Belfast, linking up with the N4, which then becomes the N12 again - on the way back on Tuesday afternoon / evening - again there were potholed parts of the R 540 that also resembled yet another rallycross stage.

I am definitely not going to use my car on that trip that I have to do again next month and also once more in August - I will be renting a Tata Bolt from Tempest Car Hire (going to see if I can get an XT instead of the XMS model, as they have both - and make sure I take the optional tyre & windscreen cover) and see how its highway fuel consumption compares to my Indica LXi - last year in June when I did it, I managed to get 7.02 litres / 100 kms with my car.

Thankfully I can claim back for travel expenses - which will easily cover the tolls, fuel & 2 day rental of the Tata Bolt on my next 2 trips to Burgersfort & back again.

Will it cover the excess on that vehicle for damage? The excess from rental companies are like R 10k :o

Nope...but like others have said...the needle turns red. I have never tried this on my car. I have never been a fan of revving a car. Also...the Bolt engine is a relatively low rev engine. Going 120 in 5th gear brings it to 2800 rpm. The Mini Cooper I had would be in 4000rpm at that speed.

Lucky You - my Indica LXi is doing around 3800 rpm @ 120 km/h in 5th gear - which is just over the torque peak of 120 Nm @ 3,500 rpm.

However, peak power is achieved much higher up in the rev range - 63 kW @ 5,500 rpm. As far as I can recall, the rev limiter kicks in at around 6,000 rpm.

Quoted fuel consumption figures (at sea level) are 6.1 l/100 km (highway), 10.0 l/100 km (city) & 7.4 l/100 km (combined) - lowest I have achieved up here in Gauteng was the same trip I did to Burgersfort a year ago, when I got 7.02 l/100 kms.

No too bad, considering the 18% power loss up here for the 1.4 litre naturally aspirated Euro III petrol engine in the Indica.

TATA SA is ****ing stupid. They have a good quality product but are not willing to market it. They have advantage of the Renault Kwid and Datsun Go being crappy tincans. Why are they not using affordability, good looks and safety as a way to market their passenger vehicles.

The Tata Tiago can be a direct rival of the Datsun Go and Kwid. It is so much safer and a better looking car. Somebody or SA media need to push them on the Tiago and if they are willing to take on the Kwid price segment. images (1).jpegimages (2).jpeg

I was at the TATA SA head office in Edenvale in February, and spotted a Tiago XZ (the top-spec model) parked there.

It had temporary cardboard GP plates, but since then, I have seen it a number of times in the Edenvale area with permanent GP plates now fitted on it, so maybe there will be an imminent release before the end of the year - here's hoping so!
