The Tata Bolt Thread (Tata Lovers)

The Bolt still does not do it for me in terms of the exterior design, Tata have made strides but they are still nor yet there, what they need is a good designer who will be able to disguise the height of the car relative to the width of the car, get the suspension a little bit lower, it is even more higher than some SUVs, I am very impressed but what they have done to the interior though.

But I don't think their poor sales has anything to do with looks, it is poor marketing.

I think they have a great exteriour look with the Tiago. That is a cute little car. I like the height of the Bolt though. Being a tall guy it makes it a lot easier for me to get in and out compared to when I had the Mini Cooper.

I agree .... their marketing in South Africa sucks.
 
Models that struggled in September but managed to avoid placing on October’s list included the Opel Grandland X (which jumped all the way to 82 units) and the Tata Bolt (just out of contention on eight units).

The Tiago would have sold well in SA and many people would have been in a safer vehicle vs the Gos/Kwids.

I really don't understand why Tata isn't being pushed in SA. Is it a supply issue? Is it a budget issue? Is it run/marketed by a parent company that doesn't care?

I think it is the latter - I heard rumours of mass retrenchments / layoffs at the local distributor were being implemented a few months ago - even possibly withdrawing from the SA market entirely - which would be a pity, as their current models on sale in India (Tiago / Tigor / Nexon / Hexa) are very appealing and cover a diverse range.

Guys...can you just double check me? The brake pad still looks ok? Not sure if my eye sight is going....but not sure if that is pad or the thingy majiggy the pad is mounted to?
 
Outer pads look fine Ockie, but usually the wear is higher on the inner pad. What is the mileage.

It is now on 40 000. Another 5000 to go before next service. Never had the brakes done. On both previous services they gave percentage left on the pad and said they are still good to go.
 
I got my 2008 Indica LXi at just under 70,000 kms - it's now at around 105,000 kms - pads still OK here as well - but I am having the tyres balanced / rotated & alignment done on Friday, so I will get the pads checked as well - the rear brake shoes are still OK - I had them relined and the drums skimmed at the 90,000 km service in July last year.

Also got a replacement set of caliper pins & bolts for the front disc pads, as well as a set of anti-rattle clips - both from my parts supplier in the UK - at a fraction of the cost if sourced from TATA SA.

Well, I am just surprized that the pads are lasting so long ... and if the part I am looking at which I think is the actual pad ... then it looks like it still has a long way to go. I am not hard on my brakes though. I tend to engine brake a lot and only use brakes to come to complete stop at robots etc. One thing that does annoy me though is that it seems that when the weather is really hot or if I have been driving a while with stop go and the brakes get hot they tend to be very squeecky :(. Annoys the sh*t out of me. Even in movies when a car squeecks when it brakes it irritates me lol. And a RATTLE!!!!! OMG ...... it drives me insane. When I first got the car they did not fasten the rear number plate correclty so it rattled and it is driving me fcking CRAZZZY! They fixed that. Then a few months later, I had to do a delivery to a customer by Lanseria but they are on a dirt road. After that 2km stretch there was something by the front passenger seat that started rattling. I was searching and looking but could not find what was causing it. Then a few days later I got home and I was fcking fuming from this bloody rattle. I aggresively pushed the seat back and forward a few times and then let it lock in place ..... VIOLA....rattle gone. lol.

Anyway .... that site you gave .... they dont stock TATA parts though. Only Rover stuff?
