The Tata Bolt Thread (Tata Lovers)

Just phoned them now to see what is happening. Guy came in early to finish the Helicoil and they are now busy putting that part of the engine back together. Will get my car back today! YAY! Just hope everything is fine once the repair is done. Will tell them I am going to drive the car for a bit after collecting and check that the power is back and no more hesitation in the engine when giving petrol. Want to be 110% sure the car is OK.

Just collected my car and took it for a bit of a drive too just check everything is fine. Power restored and noise completely gone. What a pleasure. Power is better than what it was for a long while, so think this issue been coming for a while. So happy.

Nice, glad it's finally fixed.

Believe it or not they are still here, with one passenger model on the floor, I take it they have something going on the commercial side.
Was wondering if Tata was still around, and if a used low mileage Bolt turbo was a safe buy. I wouldn't even mind driving an ugly Tata double cab but reliability, cost and parts availability is important. Judging from the multiple complaints in various fora it's not, so..

A big No, I still need to wrap around my head why parts are expensive for a Tata, looks like even the earlier ones are not any better.

My current financial situation, due to the ongoing pandemic situation - has meant that I can no longer hold onto my treasured CityRover - I hope I can get a quick sale & pass it on to a deserving Rover enthusiast. - current odometer reading is 126,740 kms @ 05 September 2020.

Oh dear.

GLWS.

Looks like the clutch release bearing is grumbling on my Bolt. Anyone found a clutch kit at Masterparts, Midas etc? I'm in Cape Town. Any idea of costs?

Never really noticed the Bolt until we stopped behind one and my 9 year daughter said "Oh look, a panty car". Took me a few seconds to get it

Well. What a fck up. Turbo went on the 28th. Partner and I took my car to go visit a friend and as we left the house a few 100 meters of driving just saw smoke billowing from the back of the car. Made a u turn and took it back home. Next day tried driving it to the the garage to book it in and the car had no power and engine would stall after a few minutes. Luckily I was just up the road still from the house and got it back there. Phoned the garage and they sent their guys to come tow the car. Later that day they phoned me to say it is the turbo that blew. Turbo places are only opening on the 3rd. Fck, this is going to be very expensive I take it. :(

So the garage phoned me yesterday. R47 000 for a new turbo from Tata and R27 000 for a after market one. They are taking the old turbo out and sending it into a turbo workshop to see if the old one can maybe be repaired. This is a nightmare for me. I should not have bought a turbo car :(

Dang! That is rough. Can't they just do a turbo delete and you trade that car in ASAP?

On my car I am not sure what will go first, the tiny K03 turbo, the engine or the Fiat/Alfe gearbox. Meh, it's only on 55,000km so I'll just yeet it some more.

What do you mean by a turbo delete?

Erm, like, just put it all together again but without the turbo so it runs like a normally aspirated car? Obviously with whatever hacks it takes not to trip a check engine light / fault code.

I actually did ask about that when I booked the car in and they guy said it could very well be the turbo. He said they cant do that.

R47k, holy smokes. Current book value of a running car in your condition?

Out of interest contact Tata and find out the price. Sometimes garages inflate the prices from the "dealer"
