The truth about Openweb

Vicky really drank the koolhidrate or got a fat bonus with this article : http://mybroadband.co.za/news/industrynews/162822-are-you-getting-value-for-money-from-your-isp.html

1. I think point one is completely moot. Look at Crystalweb (as an example of an ISP that started ~3 years ago), they had much better network and support service than Openweb did.
2. Didn't openweb state that they were IS resellers at a time... Hence the account names and issues with passwords? Anyone Remember that incident with the IS portal?
3. For a long time after I left OW, I considered value to be a company actually just delivering. Nothing additional, just being able to use a damn product, as advertised, was enough. That's how low my expectations fell. The successors had blown my expectations out of the water with actual service delivery and on top of that, value added services.

I see the "doctor" still lurks the forums, yet doesn't do anything to sway the legions of negative opinions.

Yup, the more MyBB supports them the more it shows how little integrity the writers here have.

Another Mybroadband advertorial, be interested to know how much Openweb pays for Mybroadband to "come on board", "share synergies"?

Fly by night isps? Pretty ****ty comment from him, considering what most people think of Open Web. Wow pretty awful of MyBB to continue with this OpenWeb stuff, knowing full well what users have experienced with them

Yup, the more MyBB supports them the more it shows how little integrity the writers here have.

Its editorial rather than a "writers" issue really.

But yes rather than publishing journalism there is an outright press release mill in operation. Unlike newspapers MyBB is not likely to subscribe to the Press Code and so in addition to being pay for play (coverage) as a virtual press office service (IT Web and M&G both operate virtual press offices) we are seeing something that purports to be news and isn't a press office (MyBB actually has an unutilized press office service) that gets called "partner content" but the admission of the level of the partnership and an evaluation as to whether there is (to quote the SCA ...) "a generally corrupt relationship" is never going to be forthcoming. Nor the reasons why certain enterprises enjoy such coverage - - it is quite clear that this is not a matter determined by the "highest bidder". What dirt is being hidden?

But it isn't helpful to point out how systemic the dishonesty is or how the rot of MyBB is the very reason discussions on this forum have become so banal and meaningless. There is so much happening in the industry, so many stories to investigate; there are intelligent people who used to post frequently ...

All that you can do is say "thanks and so long for the fish" and put in the occassional post in very limited areas where it is clear that the reason there is no discussion is because of a poor article to begin with.
