There should be none out there (barring the units that were sold pre-launch) with Android 6. *All the units bought from launch onwards should be Android 7 OS

*There may be exceptions - but at least 98% of what you could have got from the launch date is Android 7

So, the issue can't be that the units shipped yesterday had the wrong firmware?
 
Just confirmed in Pinelands that stock has been sent back for a firmware upgrade. Expecting new batch next week.

Both those Apps work fine on my Minix X8-H (which is quite old already). It runs Android 4.4

The whole issue was the software (Android 6 vs Android 7)

But this was discovered recently and all Android 6s were urgently pulled, updated and resent back. AS you can imagine, this was a huge task and may account for delays. The exceptions *may* be the demo units that the stores have which are still Android 6. The stock problem *could* be that the stock is sitting in Telkoms main warehouse and not delivered.

I don't work for Telkom and have nothing to do with them. I just know people on the project - but I'm not 100% sure why the stock isn't available in all stores. But I know 100% what the issue was

Will they come pre installed with the DSTV Now app or users will just download it from the Play Store?
 
I'm unsure - I didn't play with the final version.

Mine was Android 7.1.2 - but not the final

bad news chaps, the version that is available from tomorrow will not, I repeat, WILL NOT have DSTV and NETFLIX installed

DSTV available later, possibly November and Netflix still unknown

Quite a cock-up if you ask me
 
I'll probably wait till everything is sorted though. I want to be sure DSTVNow and Showmax works 100% because that is the main reason why I want to get the device. At R50 per month it's a steal.

I'm in agreement with that. It's a no-go for me until they pull finger with DSTV Now
