Update

...

Maybe we should start a new one with that data and ask the people to keep discussions to a minimum or move the questions to this one?

Good idea, yeah that's what I mean. I just started putting one together from scratch but I see you already did most of what I wanted to do...

Update: I started a new thread here: http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php/397329-Android-useful-app-catalogue and used Elimentals's list from his blog with his permission as a base for the other thread.

What's this, did I cause a kind of butterfly effect with the discussion comment... Much appreciated gents. Now, also on my account, go do ten pushups and shout a lively "hell yeah!" XD

The comments for go locker indicate it still has several security flaws, but thanks for the suggestion.

LOL, naa this is everyone's forum so we all to blame and I guess its better to have it, as it is now anyway, a discussion thread here and an App list separate, so we can do both and not cause too much of a pain for newcomers to find cool apps by reading 20 page decisions of "Anyone know how I can do x" just to find a decent media player...

I don't have the vaguest idea how linux works, so I've kept well away from rooting. But it would be nice to free up more memory by moving certain apps to the SD card. That would be my only reason.

What phone do you have, most allow you to move them without installing anything or root. (Depends on Android version)

Just go to Settings, Application, Manage Applications, and see if you can select Move to SD Card on them. (Try more than one as some apps like launchers and widgets will ont allow you to move them)

Un rooted, no specific order, I use all these apps often except for Android lost.

1 AndroidLost
2 Skype
3 TapaTalk
4 Pulse is nice but data heavy so I use the engadget app instead
5 maps, Gmail, talk etc are obvious ones that you normally get with your phone
6 watsapp
7 swiftkey / swype, which ever is your preference
8 launcher, I like ADW
9 Notification Toggle
10 widget locker
11 splashtop
12 Instagram

what would that do in simple terms?

Proxy droid?

Well if your network uses a proxy server then you'll need to tell your phone to first contact the server to access the internet. You can tell if you're using a proxy by checking your PC, go to internet explorer, tools, internet options, connections tab. Lan settings.

I apologise if this is a stupid question. But I have found no answer through searching, and no friends know the answer..

Is there an app that exists, that will allow one to make notes on an ipad (during meetings), and have them sync wirelessly (3G or WiFi) to an Android handset running 4.1.1 (for viewing and/or small changes)?

Mmmm, I would use Goodreader on the iPad and link it to a shared Dropbox account where it could sync with the Android.
