Ubuntu for Android revealed

I like this a lot. Full PC in my pocket. Android for mobile use and Ubuntu for desktop use ... all from one operating unit.

Correct me if im wrong but this means I can finally get diablo 2 on my phone ?
{Ubuntu with wine on my phone}

ok why not just right programs for android?

THIS is AWESOME news! Solve so many mobility problems. Great thinking from Canonical on this one...I think they're onto a game-changer with this latest move. Why struggle with Android UI apps like Sense UI and other such nonsense when you can go for the jugular and have your full-on Ubuntu experience...excellent!

Windoze Phone 7??? Windoze? When will Microsoft create a dual-functioning mobile/desktop OS like this? MS and Nokia are just starting out and already the bar on phones and desktops have been raised.

This is a case when desktop can be added to the existing devices by the user, or it will be user downloadable option for future devices, or this article is exclusively addressed to the manufacturers of Android devices.

However, what is the chance that this will be available in 2012?

Well if we look at the projects that is already working See: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.zpwebsites.ubuntuinstall

I would say it is very likely.

See above link, if Conical use a similar method I dont see why not. All it does is run the application that hooks directly into the Linux kernel already running on the phone.

PS: I am running above on my HTC Desire HD, the bonus of such a system and that I can say will become more apparent is that you can plug in the device to a monitor and use Bluetooth USB/Keyboard to edit Excell documents/PowerPoint presentations in a comfortable environment and when you need it on the road to show to clients its just there.

Another great use could be to have a dedicated Android Application for use to capture sqldata(SQLite) on the move, and when back at home base dock the phone and have a full blown Linux application access the Applications Data(SQLite) and manipulate, fine-tune or even generate reports.
