I have ubuntu ultimate and want to run this on a g3 mac.The mac has no operating system and the harddrive is formatted to hfs.
Do i need to format the drive ntfs or must i create a partition with ntfs for this to work.

Is there detailed instruction on how to use my iso to burn a bootable hfs linux disk.
how will i do this.
is there no way i can use my ubuntu live cd and convert it to a ppc ubuntu,I really cant download a huge iso like that

Why do you want to format it to ntfs? Rather go for ext3 or reiser.... :)
Further than that I cannot help you... never used a mac before.

Do you have the PPC version of Ubuntu?

what he is saying you cant run the x86 version of ubuntu on a g3 machine, as from what i understand g3 is only ppc architecture, which means you need to download that very large iso.

I have run ubuntu on my apple g3 ibook. However more recently I installed debian xfce version on the ibook and that works well. Xfce for the low requirements around ram and it gives me a nice uncluttered desktop.

You will need to get the powerpc version of the software.
