Not sure if this is true. I am on the 4mbit home uncapped account, and download Highdef tv series and movies, automated via Sickbeard + Couchpotato, and I am usually just just below the threshold pretty much all the time. Lucky for me, NA series are released in the 2-6am slot so I never have any problems.

I suppose if you catch them as they are released they will almost always fall in the download plus period.

The account is in the monitoring state and this means it is reviewed every 1 to 3 days (dependant on the warning stage). Our management team has taken a firmer stance on network abuse, especially where Shaped products are in use since some responsibility still lies with the account holders to manage their product within the guidelines of the MWEB AUP.

Your prolonged sessions appeared to be active from 17 November and still continues.

Regarding the MWEB Acceptible Usage Policy and the extracts which may apply, please note the following entries :

• You may not restrict, inhibit or interfere with the ability of any person to access, use or enjoy the Internet or the any services, or create an unusually large burden on our network, including, without limitation, continuously uploading or downloading streaming video or audio; continuous FTP uploading or downloading, or otherwise generating levels of traffic sufficient to impede others' ability to send or retrieve information, or to use the services in an abusive manner in connection with any unlimited packages, options or promotions.

AUP Enforcement and Notice

Customer's failure to observe the guidelines set forth in this AUP will be regarded as a material breach and may result in MWEB taking actions, which may either be a warning, a suspension or termination of Customer's services. When reasonably possible, MWEB may provide Customer with a notice of an AUP violation allowing the Customer to promptly correct such violation.

If the IP Services are used in a way that we, in our reasonable discretion, believe violates this Acceptable Use Policy or any of our rules or limitations, we may take any responsive actions we deem appropriate. Such actions may include without limitation, temporary or permanent removal of content, cancellation of newsgroup posts, filtering of Internet transmissions, and/or the immediate limitation, restriction, suspension or termination of all or any portion of the services or your account.

This email serves as a notice regarding your MWEB ADSL service.

Your current ADSL usage pattern shows repeated instances of prolonged download sessions at line, or near line speeds which is placing an undue burden on our network and is not in keeping with our Acceptable Usage Policy.

According to our records this is the third notification we have issued and we are left with no choice but to initiate steps to cancel your service with 24 hours notice.

So once again they didn't answer my question, because my line always downloaded at below 1mbps during peak.

That's the exact setup I have as well, now to wait for the 1st.

So, by definition, a single YouTube video is classified as a continuous video stream (If your connection is constant), and therefore YouTube is disallowed. Online Radio (EG: ECR / 5FM's 'Listen Live' options) is considered a live audio stream, and therefore also disallowed. I'd switch ISP's

If you estimate what each of the charges are for 1 Mb/s, add them all together, then you have the true cost of 1 Mb/s uncapped. AND IT IS NOT A COUPLE OF HUNDRED BUCKS. The only way to make it affordable is an AUP. However, the AUP must be crystal clear!

You can make the same long list of reasons for the costs and thought that goes into making a brick.

- Hiring of specialized staff for bricks
- Purchasing of expensive vehicles to move a brick
- Hiring of accountants to manage brick company books
- Hiring of sales people to sell bricks
- Construction of road from brick factory to main road
- Brick billing charges
- 20 Brooms for cleaning dust up left by bricks
- Health costs on maintaining brick making labour force
- Brick equipment maintenance and charges
- Stakeholder revenue and investment return.
- Regulatory taxes and charges
etc etc etc. You get my point.

How come, people in ****tier 3rd world countries are able to offer more bandwidth for less? Even in a countries with less infrastructure and lower GDPs theyre able to offer faster internet with less restrictions.

The whole system here in SA needs a ton of reform. Get the people from Kenya or Nigeria to come here, they have more of a clue.
