So with the new 'uncapped' accounts, i decided it would be helpful to see the prices of the different ISP's at a glance, so here goes:

HTML:
ISP 384k 512k 4mb 8mb
MyISP R159 --- R459 ---
Axxess R196 --- R496 ---
Afrihost R197 R297 R497 R997
Imagine R199 --- R499 ---
Nexus R199 --- R499 ---
Gamco R199 --- R499 ---
Mweb R219 R299 R539 ---
Openweb R219 R299 R539 ---
Screamer R399 R799 R2499 ---
Sainet R449 R999 R2599 ---
Digichilli R300 R500 R3000 ---

Sorted in order of the 4mb price and prices are for DATA ONLY (not including line rental).

I will update this post as more ISP's release their products. Please let me know if you hear of other ISP's offering similar products.

Please note: I had to use HTML code snippet as the table looked weird when in the standard forum post

Makes no distinction between adsl line inclusive packages and non inclusive packages, SAOL comes to mind.

Can you buy the Afrihost 384k right now? Someone told me that they weren't selling it yet?
I've been told they are not using the newly launch IS Uncapped product so not sure how they're doing this.
Good luck to them though as I'm loving this new pricing/market shift.
P.

SAOL and Cybersmart is pretty quiet... SAOL still advertising all in clusive 384k for R799 on their website (compared to R339 from Vox!)

Not as yet, they are testing out the 4mb first before they launch the other speeds.

Wouldnt something like this be better?

Also have to keep in mind that it's a unshaped service unlike the other offerings ;)

Well the only ISP's that gives an exact amount is Afrihost, but they will not disconnect you once you reach 200GB. You will just be investigated or flagged as a heavy user. In fact all the ISP's are quite vague about heavy users. So we cant accurately give a R/MB

Is Afrihost and Imagine accounts same as MWEB and OpenWeb? Same shaping story?

Yep same story, they are pretty much the same accounts. Afrihost and Imagine are reselling IS accounts, while im not sure about MWEB, they could be also reselling or they could be using their own network. Openweb is just reselling MWEB's accounts.

Sorry - should have pointed this out earlier... I have been told by IS that the Afrihost accounts and the new IS Uncapped are different. I don't know how Afrihost are doing it but it's not buying bandwidth... so maybe account amalgamation of per GB?? Eitherway that's their business and good luck to them.

That's why I'm keen to see the Imagine Uncapped accounts latency performance in different areas of the country. The one we're testing here in JOburg seems very decent, whilst others are mentioning their latencies throught he roof.

We found out this morning how the system differentiates. IT is now possible for an IS reseller to change the service levels and speed for any of their clients 'on the fly'.

We have currently decided not to resell this product as we believe it should be the Tier 1 provider's responsibility to provide a best case service 24/7.

Therefore, we will continue to sell the IS Uncapped Basic shaped product which seems to be giving amazing results so far.

Thanks for the feedback ppedrick.

Which product are u referring to? The ones Afrihost are selling i assume?

Yes - We want the pressure to be on IS to provide Tier 1 products.
We are concerned that 100's of resellers will now launch an 'IS uncapped' and just sell the level 5 'heavily shaped' GB... and try and say that it's not their fault.

It would seem its the same as Nexus and Imagine, they are reselling the IS product.

I've updated the opening post with Axxess's prices.

How many ISP's are there that still have to go uncapped? Can we have a list?
