Uncapped ADSL

This is what I have said from the beggining. Companies have diffrent deals with Providers. Depending on the amount they provide.

On the VAT issues, more than 50% of our customer are VAT registered.

Its not the deal with the provider.

Sometimes clients are permitted to go over their bandwidth cap.

Some clients of OpenWeb could actually confirm that at times, they are capped at say 50GB's.

I just dont advertise it, as I do not want to get people's hopes up if it doesnt happen. The contract states 30GB Local, and thats what we provide.

I am actually going to get someone from IS to make a public post regarding this. I believed that the subject was closed, but it has now been re-opened.

Not to attack openweb/mrbeep or anything but from what I have heard it seems like IS does provide different levels of service.

On openweb we used to be able to download more than 30gig local and not get capped and then it got cancelled by IS??

But with some other isp's that also resell IS accounts we are still allowed to download more than 30gig locally and not get capped.

Hi.
I am an IS employee, and can categorically state that we do not treat resellers differently in terms of the services available, and do not limit different resellers in different ways, nor would or do we change the quality of the service for different resellers. The administration and technical work for this alone would not make it worthwhile.

If you are truley an IS marketing person.

Would you comment on the following: Is ODS a client of yours. (Lets see the response.) Maybe ODS has a good thing, that no one knows about.

It's called "Trade Secret"

i did 52 gig on my openweb account in november

the trick is not to reboot your pc, the minute i reboot my pc and im over 30 im capped maybe just a conincidink i dunno

Hi
I have checked records, and to the best of my (and our channel managers knowledge) ODS are not an IS reseller, unless they are under some other company name. If you are from ODS and do not agree with this, please get in touch with your account manager, and they can come and speak to me to retract, but not a reseller we are aware of.

ppls capping differs in leniency, but its not related to the ISP. i know on openweb ive been able to go over my cap for the last few months....guess its just your luck
Hi everyone,

Yup, basically everything indicated here is the situation. On the SAIX side of things we have greater control in how we can cap users, which means that we handle the actual capping/disabling of accounts (and so on and so forth), while on the IS side the capping is handled by IS themselves and not us (we merely indicate what kind of account a specific user is using, not whether they are capped or not). As we do not handle capping ourselves we are charged on a "per account" basis, not a per GB basis, and as such any over usage doesn't get charged to us.

IS's capping policy at this time is lenient and they do not appear to hard cap accounts when they exceed their 30GB threshold (though this can always change, at the moment that is not the case). This is the same as with every other ISP reselling IS accounts in general (it's not only limited to the local only ones).

Are there any specific questions anyone has regarding the service?

I love this thread.

You can always clearly see who knows what they're talking about, and who doesn't.

So let me get this right ?

I dug myself a hole by "Asking the IS person" if I was a I client.

This thread has become boring and helps no one achive better prices nor speeds within the ADSL arena. What I have noticed is every company gets treated badly on this thread, and therefore less and less companies are making an appreance here.

Openweb
thank you working easily 25.7 a week to
give you costumers good servers and develope
new products.

ODS
its good to see a company is willing and ambitious
to go ahead this year to be out with new and exciting stuff.

news server :D
game proxy :D
....................................................................................

as to this 'IS person'. Only written letter with a company header
and a signature at the end with a name and surname with position
would be more honest truth than entrusting a person with a nick
to be from IS.

i mean something as this has to at least pass as a legal document right ?

on the internet anyone can be anyone ;)
....................................................................................

best of luck to ODS and OpenWeb :D

Lol.....

Sorry to burst everyones bubble but Wicked is correct... IS is not allowed to give out details at all... even if wicked asked... so as far as that statement is concerned they are voiding their privacy and are subject to be sued if data is leaked.

So in saying that... is cannot reply to this thread accuratley unless they respond directly to wicked and he actually posts a screenshot of the letter etc up on the net. And lets be honest wtf would do that.

I certainly wouldnt waist my time with ppl here posting stuff up on the net for them... the amount of people that actually pull their fingers out their bums and do something i could count on 1 hand. The rest sit and b1tch about things.

All i can say is..
Openweb - Go for it... the market is huge and there are alot of other products/services one can compete on. Welldone on helping SA market in competition.

ODS - welldone also for competing against and with openweb... you guys should be mates and not enemies. Not to mention that you are doing the country good by making new products and helping with pricing.
