Spot on. I had the same problem. Was playing GTA IV and the colours went all funny. A day or 2 later there was no video output out all. Phone Microsoft support and get a reference, then swop it out. (Seems to be popular with the late 2007 models)

Lol, seems Game employees are universally ignorant/idiotic. Had two similar ecperiences in their Pretoria branches. Kage, make the biggest fuss you can, demand a replacement unit, and threaten them that you have IBS, and will "go ballistic" if your needs aren't answered.

It shouldn't be a problem (provided you have proof of purchase) I took my RRoD back to Game Canal Walk as well. Just phone MS and get your reference number first and take it to the Service desk and there shouldn't be an issue. Game has a store based swap out policy - they didn't have stock to swap, so they paid me out and I bought a new one somewhere else.

Phoned Game and they advised me to phone Xbox Customer Care Number which opens at 10:00.
Should not be a problem, the dude at Game said that it should not be a proble to refund the money or do a swap out...the only thing is that I bought this as a Value Bundle with 2 games...so I might have to scramble to get the games back...Viva Pinata and the PGR3, should not be a major problem...

My Xbox did a similar thing the other day, screen went blank, came back and the colours where funny with snow all over. I switched it off and have played many hours since then without any problems. Only problem is I think I'm close to the end of my 3yrs, so if it does fail I would have to buy a new one.

MaestroZA, you sure have a bloodhounds sense for failing/failed XBOX 360's :) Hopefully I will never have to make use of your services, but if anything did happen to my box, you would be the first I called.

Hey :D

The reality is, 98% of Xbox 360 consoles can be repaired. If it's under warranty, sure go do a swap out.

I'll be getting a few goodies within the next week to do BGA re-balling (Google it :p), which will be a fantastic solution for graphics related problems.

I will test the procedure on a spare E74 unit that I have before the general public will reap the benefits.

I can't wait ;)
 
Update!

Ok, contacted Xbox.com, they gave me the reference number and contacted Game!
They are giving me a replacement console and a free game! :D

They dont do refunds unfortunately...:(
I am still going to try to get vouchers or something from them...to make up the R2999 I paid for my system.

I was told it is the sega tennis game...lol...but hey it's free...
I can be very...ummm..."persuasive"... so I'll see if I can get some Game Vouchers from them for the dif in cost...who knows...:p
 
I rather like the xbox, my console of choice should i ever go the console route... but geez they seem to be terrible build quality or hardware quality.

Does microsoft use chingwang branded hardware?

From my point, being part of the stats.
There is nothing wrong with the build quality or the hardware quality.
Things fail...I have PC parts that are fukin expensive that I bought recently that failed.

Things break...unlike some companies, MS owns up to it and replaces my console. I can sleep at night now knowing that I am getting a new console and that somewhere in the world is getting my refurbished console that will give them hours and hours of pleasure...:p

Dude if it's Sega tennis, then a big heads up it sounds like they're giving you an Arcade bundle!

Two options
1. Tell them and try swap your HDD and HD cables
2. Don't tell them and do likewise ...

They may have issues doing a non like for like swap
